Question about VVTi
Forgive me if this is a stupid question.. As I understand, VVTi works by adjusting the timing on the intake camshaft to make a smoother transition at lower speeds and to help exhaust flow smoother at higher speeds. That in itself could be totally incorrect, as I am trying to educate myself on this technology. One of my confusions is that if the intake cam opens early to help the exhaust, wouldn't that just mean that the exhaust fumes are going in the wrong direction, and wouldn't they just end up making the intake struggle more? Obviously that is not the case or they wouldn't be using it. Does it work just like VTEC?
