Gen6 How can i tell if i have VSC/Traction control..

As alot of you know, i just got my new 2008 LE V6. Short of floreing it and breaking it lose, i would do that but its a new car and it has to be broken in first. So how do i tell if i have traction control, and/or skid control?

I believe if you have VSC/Traction Control, then there will be an indication lamp on the dash when you first start the car up.

Your car is still pretty new, do you still have your window sticker? It should be listed as an option or an option package on the right side. According to the Toyota Website, that option is either available by itself for about $650, or bundled in a large package that costs about $2600. (moonroof, JBL cd changer, bluetooth, and the vsc/traction control).

Otherwise, I think that if you have VSC/Traction control, as said above, you'll have an indicator light on the dash that looks like a car with skid marks. On my hybrid, (which is a bit different), it's in the lower right hand corner of the dash/speedometer.

If it turns out that you do have it, make sure you tell your insurance company, it may save you a few dollars on your car insurance.

Good luck.

im surprised this wasnt suggested yet ..... surefire way to tell:

put it in Drive .... hold the brake firmly with your left foot, and gently hold the accelerator so that the revs are at about 2500 constant

simultaneously let go of the break, and floor the accelerator (dont let go until youve hit 100mph)

then you will know if you have traction control or not

I love my VSC. My 02 Camry didn't have it and I always had a lot of front tire slip. Whenever my VSC kicks in the icon on the dash flashes rapidly. I don't known about TRAC though because even though I have it, i've never seen it light-up outside of starting the car.

Another question, does anyone know if the ABS light is supposed to flash when it kicks in??
