5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i have an 05 camry 4cyl, and was wondering a few things.
1. isnt the motor (2AZFE) the same motor that is in the scion tc?
2. what kind of motor would be swappable into this camry? i was thinking of either a 7m, or a 1jz if possible. i know a prominent shop that says he can swap a 1jz into the camry, and manual tranny swap, but need to know if this is possible.
3. was thinking about doing a trd supercharger, and would like to know what would need to be done to make sure the motor doesnt blow.
4. what other cars have the same lug pattern as the camry?
im trying to make my venture into the vip style, and wanted to be the first with a 1jz swap, and go from there.
IJZ is an inline 6 cylinder engine made for a Rear Wheel Drive car. Wont fit in the camry as a Front Wheel drive application. Unles you plan on spending in the Nieghborhood of $25,000 in custom fabrication the turn the camry into a rear wheel drive car, Keep dreaming.
2az is the same engine in the tc.
TRD supercharger is made to not blow up the engine

1. Yes
2. Any engine (none reasonably though). Your "prominent" shop is clueless.
3. A piggyback engine controller and all other related TRD supercharger componants
4. See previous answers
yea but is the offset necessarily the same or compatible with camrys?
camry stock offset is +45. some hondas and acuras have +45 upto +50 for their stock offsets. lexus sports +40 front +45 rear for the newer sedans and +45 for the older ones. not too familiar with nissan and infiniti offsets.
