2007 Camry suspension + wheels

I finally did it.

I bought a 2007 Camry about a month after it came out a year and a half ago. I didn't have enough money to spend on it, since I didn't have a job at the time. However, over a period of this month of December, I finally got it done. Please listen closely.

2007 Magnetic Grey
Camry I4 LE

MODS:
Sportmax Wheels 19x8.5 Front / 19x9.5 Rear staggered VIP look
Typhoon K&N Short Ram Intake
Limo Tint front / Double Limo tint rears
HID Retrofit

----------------

I got a typhoon K&N Short Ram intake, and it is LOUD above 3,000K RPM. However, the 14.3 dynoproven horsepower boost is noticeable.

I also had the car dropped on H&R Springs, which lowers the front 1.4 and the back 1.3 for those who do not like the sagged rear look. Since I have a 12 inch sub, I prefered this because it was already weighted in the back.

I also retrofitted HIDs on the vehicle: EASY.

Now this is what I really wanted to tell other Camry owners who are looking for the right wheel + tire fitment.

After the drop (considerably lower than TRD), I bought Axis Suicide rims, which are 19x7 all around. The rear looked horribly tucked in, so I got an inch spacer in the back.

It rubbed like CRAZY. Everywhere I went. I couldn't give people rides in the back, because it rubbed.

I was driving on the 91 Freeway in LA, and I hit a pothole, fracturing my front right rim. The horrible thing is, they stopped manufacturing these rims 2 years ago. I could've either dished out money to fix it, or buy new ones.

I decided to go get new rims.

I bought mine at performanceplustires, and I decided to opt for the Sportmax 962 rims with the new deepdish technology. I got gold ones with the machined lip. I also wanted to go for the staggered fitment, so I got 19x8.5 in the front, and 19x9.5 in the rear! The front lip is 2 inches and the rears are 3.25 inches.

picture: http://www.performanceplustire.com/p...ucts3/4740.jpg

website: http://www.performanceplustire.com/products/wheels/applicationID/9253/searchType/searchByVehicle/year/2007/makeID/576/modelID/7956/btnSubmit/View%20Products%20and%20Prices/wheelSize/19/manufacturerID/41/productID/5348/wheelDataID/43295#prodAnchor

Performance plus tires called me back to tell me that they did not offer this kind of fitment for my car because of many reasons.
1) staggered are not for FF
2) They said even 8.5 wide all around was a stretch for my car, and plus, my car was lowered on H&R springs (horrible rubbing issues).

I told them I didn't care, and to ship it to me.

I put on the rims, but I used the OLD bridgestone potenzas tires from my previous axis rims. I realized that it fit a 7 wide all around, but I also wanted the VIP (BIPPU) look, with the 3.25 lip sticking out. I ended up putting these same tires on the 8.5 and 9.5 wide rims. The car mechanics had a HARD time putting air into my tires, because of the rim and tire fitment. They finally managed to get air in.

I was HUGELY WORRIED about rubbing issues, because of what the performance plus tires said. They also had me sign a waiver contract, stating that I knew about the incorrect fitment, and will not hold them liable for any rubbing or damage resulting in this certain staggered fitment.

HOWEVER, IT DOESNT RUB! Because of the smaller VIP tires, the rim itself tucks neatly into the wheelwell during bumps and etc! The front is completely flush, while the rear rims stick out only a little bit. I'll remind you, THIS IS WITH A 1.4 H&R DROP AND 19x9.5 RIMS! Yes it fits perfectly.

I just wanted to let other 6gen camry owners know that 19x9.5 can fit on your car, even with a significant drop!

I took some pictures, even though its POURING RAIN. I'll post up new pictures 2moro, when the rain should clear by then. Sorry about the quality, it's nighttime and raining.

New pics should be coming 2moro. Remember the rears are 19x9.5 staggered!

The rims were only about 588$ out the door for me. Yes, for the 19 inch rims. Pretty good deal no?

looks good! another fellow fan of BIPPU STYLE!
what offset are you running on your wheels and what are the measurements of your tires? do they happen to be 225/35/19 and offset of +25?

it would greatly help all gen 6 modders because a lot of people ask what is the widest that can fit in our cars. nice choice of wheels and color too. always was a fan of gold wheels and polished lips.

Moky, the offset is 35 for both. Big O tires recommended 45 offsets, but the only ones available to me were 35. Which is fine, because there is no rubbing.

My tires fit PERFECTLY on 19x7.0 on my previous Axis suicide rims. I believe the tire size is 225/35/19. I'll have to double check on that 2moro when it stops raining.

nice nice. are you using the spacers on the rears?

+35 fits perfectly. i run 19x8.5 +35 with the TRD drop.
do get close up pix of the front and the side to be able to show the proper VIP FLUSH fitment. i just want to see how a 9.5 fits on the rear.

nice job so far. planning on coils? how's the ride of the H&R?

Hey Moky. I used rear 1.25inch spacers w/ the axis 19x7 rims before, and it rubbed like crazy. I am not using spacers at all for my sportmax rims and does not rub at all. The front sticks out JUST a tiny bit, and the rears a little more. However, with coilovers, it should drop it flush. I am looking into coilovers, but i can't find any. Do you recommend any?

More pics to come 2moro Moky. Thanks.

Also, when I put on the rims, the mechanics commented on the fitment. The 9.5 in the rear is the BIGGEST u can put on PERIOD, whether lowered or not. This is due to the space between the actual rim and the suspension. There is less than .25 inch space left. BARELY fits.

oh btw, the ride of the H&R is a tad bit on the bumpy side. I imagine the eibach/TRD to be noticeably softer in comparison. However, there body roll is eliminated completely. Overall, the ride is liveable. Not noticeable under 35mph, but after u can start to feel the road.

for coils, currently there are 2 that are available in the market: d2 coilovers and ksport coilovers. i know a number of people on the forum run those coils on previous gens of the camry and most of them have favorable reviews on it. i tried searching on other forums and got the same feedback, good overall daily use coilovers that are very feature rich for the price as compared to suspension heavyweights tein, tanabe etc.

tein coils are expected sometime this year. a member here, benca1 has contacts with tein and they are developing and probably finalizing the testing on the coils.

Great choice in wheels. I wanted to get the silver ones but PP told me that they were being discontinued. The deal you got isn't too bad.
Who was the person able to give you the deal at Performance Plus? That's also where I got my wheels and tires from locally.

Btw, what are the specs on your tires? Not sure if it's the quality of your pics but it looks like you're running stretched tires at the rear?

Trojan, the tires I'm running might be 225/35/19. I'm not too sure as of now (Since its pouring rain). However, all 4 tires are the same size, that fit on my 19x7 before. I believe it looks stretched because the mechanics themselves stretched it? I don't know if thats good or bad, but yeah. All 4 tires are the same size.

More pics to come 2moro + correct tire size.

lol nice name camrysexxx. The limo tint is 5% in the front. The rears I use two films of the 5%, so I don't know what it makes it. Basically, I have about 20% visibility during the day from INSIDE my car, and during the night its 0%. I can't parallel park during the night. If I want to park, I have to open my right window, because I'm scared or scratching my rims (lip sticks out more than tire). Even during the day, you can have your hands cupped in my rear windows looking in, and you won't be able to see anything.

Definitely more pics 2moro.

Stretched tires are sexy especially if you're going with VIP style. The only reason why it may be bad is you just gotta watch out for the curbs lol and faster tread wear.

The crazy thing is, my rears camber like CRAZY. I didn't think it would come out to be that much, but its really bad. But considering VIP style, the camber looks really nice. I think its because of the H&R plus the width of my rims that make the camber look really noticeable. It is very noticeable actually when anybody looks at it. Again, I'll post pictures of the following.

1) Rear Camber
2) wheel flush of front and rear
3) tire size
4) overall look

Coo, thanks I just was gonna ask about the camber. Like Moky said, a lot of us here at TN have been trying to find out how far we can go with tires width's and offsets for our Camry's. Good to know that somebody wasn't afraid to test the waters
