Gen5 55,000 Mile Service Highlights..

Hello Fellow Rice Burners:

What in your opinion is the most important thing to do at 55K miles? we got to keep those Camrys running in tip top shape, like a 1941 Zero. let see:

oil change
air filter change
coolant change
pvc change
timing belt change
fuel injector service
tranny drain and refill
spark plugs good
struts good but hurting
brake pads still good
new tires needed
fuel filter? change or not?

These Camry engines are fantastic, Nissan Altima is copy cat off the Camry engine with their CVT engine.

I still have that new car ride and feel at 55K miles. but i struts are starting to go, and i need new tires, surprisingly my brake pads are still good at 55K.

Don't forget to take a look at your cabin air filter.. Of course, buy one at Checkers or wherever and change it yourself. I change my cabin air filter out every 8-12 months since I have allergies - and the old one that comes out is always dirty with a couple of leaves in it. And also windshield wipers . WalMart has some $5 Anco wipers that are really good.

I also really like the 2AZ. I can barely tell it's running even with the radio off and windows down. Of course, I think I like the 1MZ just a little bit more. Heh!

Weird. The quote function isn't working quite right..Anyway, yeah, the 1MZ is simply amazing. I had my friend move my mom's car and her immediate reaction was "Wow. I'm not even going fast but as soon as I step on the gas, you can really feel the car go" - she has a Legend with the 2.7L V6.To this day, I STILL think about whether or not I made the right choice with my car. I was choosing between a black 2004 V6 LE and my silver 2005 I4 LE. The black one was at a horrible dealership and as meticulous as I am, I can't maintain the paint on a black car. In the end, I think I did make the right choice. As a college student I really can't afford to maintain the 1MZ. So, I just drive my mom's car when I feel the need for speed! Ha ha

+1

Does the car have pink or red coolant? The pink coolant is good until 90 000 miles IIRC. The red coolant looks like cranberry juice and the pink stuff looks like Pepto Bismol for your reference.

Something else you could do is clean the TB with some TB cleaner and an old tooth brush. Cost of materials is $10 at most and takes maybe 1 hour.

Not sure if you can get to the fuel filter in Gen 5 & 6 because my understanding is that they're inside the fuel tank or near the fuel pump. The older models had a filter under the air box. The filter cost about $20 and maybe 1 hour to change it out.

My coolant is pink color. I change my cabin air filter like 3 times per year because i live in new york city tri-state area with all that pollution from new jersey is killing us here. I get them real cheap on ebay. I want to change the PCV, and do a pressuriezed fuel injector cleaning service on the car, also i think i need a wheel alignment too, after the buy the new tires, etc... this is low key maintenance, nothing crazy. I tell you, this engine, suspension, make it tight as can be. pimp it every day.
