Gen5 Cabin Air Filter: OEM vs Charcoal

Whats the difference? which one is better? Im in the market for a cabin air filter, but I noticed there are ones that are similar to the OEM material, and then there are Charcoal cabin air filters? What is so special about a charcoal air filter? Im open to recommendations

The Camry is very very air tight. The air filter could be the only way outside air can enter the car. How can I say this? On I-5 there is a huge cattle ranch right by the freeway. The smell is intolerable. The cars passing through it must close all the windows and switch to indoor circulation. When I do this, I do not smell any ordor.

Charcoal is supposed to be able to aid the air filter in keeping bad odors out of the car. Don't know if this is true or not but I just replaced the air filter on my wife's ES with a charcoal one from ebay. It was cheap and was supposed to be able to keep up with or exceed factory specs according to the seller so I decided to give it a try.

Camry and ES have the same cabin air filter. I'm not sure about the Camry but '02 model ES's came with charcoal air filters from the factory. Somewhere down the line, Toyota changed the part number to standard filters maybe to save money. Don't know for sure.

spam be gone
as for the filter, i believe its a hoax....all you have to do is keep tabs over your oem cabin air filter and change it every so often and you should be fine
i change mine before the spring and fall every year, because i have bad pollen allergies and when the pollin count rises i feel like shit, and a clean cabin air filter helps to keep smells and allergens out of the cabin, and keeps me feeling happy while in my car.

How is this spam when i am saying what is a known fact, activated carbon filters are better. All you have to do is read on toxins in vehicles and results of carbon tests. Also i choose to talk about a product i use that works great .And am sharing my opinion and experiences?>
