5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 2007 LE 4cyl/automatic. I find the car understeers. This is often solved by sway bars, or perhaps stiffer shocks/struts. I do not want to change the springs, lower the car etc., but would like to tighten things up a bit. Any suggestions? Any Sway bar options?

The best thing that you can do is install a larger rear sway bar.
Our cars are FWD… understeer is inevitable… if you're looking for sway bars… none are out yet… you could use SE sways, but you're still going to have understeer

I wouldn't recommend using larger front and rear sway bars to help with understeer. Adding a larger rear sway bar will be more helpful than replacing both.

There is nothing in that thread about reducing understeer...
It's amazing that he can "feel" the understeering with all 158hp in our I4 Camry.
Well then, be amazed.
I understand the soft suspension, and body roll, that is fine. What I am trying to do is to reduce some of the understeer, and perhaps flatten the body roll a bit. On most cars this can be done with a rear swaybar. I would like to find one if they are effective.
I know the SE's have one, and perhaps that is my only option. But, are they effective?

OBVIOUSLY you dont even know what understeer is.....its when the front wheel basically slide before the rear ones....when both slide equally its called NEUTRAL ....fronts.its called understeer...rear is called oversteer........ALL PRODUCTION care have understeer to be safe for most drivers...if you go too fast on a curve the car will just slide off the road..instead of fishtailing and wiping out..!

Heavier rear sway bar will do the trick....it will tighten the body roll in back and up the weight transfer on the rear tires, causing them to oversteer more. a heavier front bar will increase understeer....try adding a few lbs of air to front tires also..its helps..
