5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Below a few pic's from the official Toyota Camry Ad in China. Thought some of you would be interested - gives ideas for possible mod's using Asian spec parts. Similar to Aurion and the Lexus badged Camry in some Southeast Asia parts of the world.
I will see if I can get my hands on those mirrors!
Main differences (with some comments):
Front fascia, grill, head lights and lower body molding - same as Aurion
Integrated headlight pressure washers
Turn signal lights integrated in mirrors
Rear fascia, tail lights, trunk lid - don't care about that
Integrated rear parking sensor , nice add-on
Chrome accents exterior - don't care
Dash and middle console design - not bad
Wood accents interior -
Illuminated door sills (optional) - don't care
Only 2L and 2.4L engines, no V6 -
The overall appearance is just a bid more mature than the US version and feels comfortable inside and outside. Imagine we can use these as base for mod's
yeah these look good....i have a 1/35ths scale model of one on top of my TV.....got that sit off ebay
i like design of the car better than the US verions...i do however not like it nearly as much as i like the aurion sportivo and TRD aurion
Me too, I will see if I can get some pricing and info if they match. Hopefully they are also heated...
BTW, the Camry's are sold at only very few dealers here who only sell Camry's. All other Toyota dealers sell the rest of the line-up: Corrolla, Reiz (also called Mark, based on Lexus IS platform), Van's etc.
I love those Asian Camry's, but don't they cost quite a bit more?
Maybe we will get lucky and the Gen 6.5 will look more like that
All cars in China are more expensive than in the US. The Camry list price is between 200-240k RMB or 26-31k USD. That includes a longer list of standard equipment. I assume these are mfg in mainland China already - otherwise the price tag would be even higher due to the import tax. Example: Nissan and BMW are all imported ...a 5 series BMWer starts at just under 50k USD.
Toyota is in an uphill battle with Buick/GM and VW/Audi for the Chinese market, and is late to enter that market - versus it's total dominance in the US passenger car market.
Yes, they are. Buick/GM is way dominant, followed by VW/Audi and not to forget BMW. But since the release of the Camry here, I see now much more Camry's on my daly drive!! They supposedlly take market share mostly from Honda Accord away. FYI: all Buick/GM are China spec and built by GM Shanghai - I had one for almost two years and they started rattling after 4 weeks. I now switched to Audi A6L - much better so far, will see soon.
Yes, I have seen this add. From the picture, they look like aftermarket and not exact the same, which is not a big deal. I just hope to get them cheaper directly.
Btw, I am translating the Camry broshure as we speak and it appears that they come standard with HID in the front and LED in the back. I will double check. That mounts to my problem how Toyota decides what US customers want and what they do not care about. I care about those things....
