5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just thought I'd share with you what happened to my Cam. Got rear ended last night. G/f was driving but she's ok except for the occasional back/neck injury caused by the impact. As far as the car goes, the rear bumper is completely sagging, non-repairable. The driver who hit her claimed he was falling asleep behind the wheels. I'm glad he didn't flee from the scene; he also admitted fault, so I guess that makes things easier for the insurance companies.
The air bags didn't deploy. Is that unusual?
I'll have to wait until Monday to meet with the adjustor and figure out how to proceed from here.

Make sure your g/f sees a chiropractor or something. Since he already admitted fault, you might as well make sure shes alright. Sorry to hear this. A lot of TN members seem to be getting hit lately.

That's too bad, but as you said at least the guy didn't run or try to blame it on you. It does seem like many Gen 6's are getting involved with accidents though (at least not many are our fault).
Dang, that sucks. I got rear ended twice already and looking at the damage that you received he really must have been going fast. Glad and Blessed to see that you are alright. It could have been worse.
Thanks everyone for voicing out their concerns. It just sucks that I won't have it for a while. I'm really hoping that it's just the bumper that's damaged and nothing with the frame.
Apparently, my g/f was goin 70/75 when all of a sudden she felt a big thud from behind. The coin slot opened up and all the coins fell from the impact. Her head hit the steering wheel. The guy fell asleep and went from 65 to god knows what speed until he hit my car. The impact caused enough force to cause a temporary loss of control on the wheel. I didn't notice any indentation on the bumper that would suggest any serious damage to the frame. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed nonetheless.

Haha, I thought about that, but it's only the rear bumper and skirt that's damaged. Also, the SE's have tabs where the OEM skirts fit. If I go the Naristo or RKS way, I'm not sure if they'll cover the wholes for the tabs. Good point, though.
