Instead of bumping an old thread, I thought I'd make a new thread with some posts that members here made on the 2007 Camry before it was released and reliable info was available (yes I am bored, lol).

Hopefully the redesign Camery will be a smaller version of the Avalon. Also I have heard Toyota will never put an engine in the Carmy with the same HP. Like the previous post said it will be a detuned version.

I hear avalon's getting hybrid before the camry is..so look out for 2007 avalon hybrid's coming mid next year!

that part i don't remember..i think they said the standard V6 is going to be 3.3L...and if I remember correctly...they are coming out with a new 4 cylinder....they have a mad 4 cylinder coming out, and that was suppose to be it....it's been a few months so I don't really remember that well....

I thought that the 4 cylinder was brand new for this generation Camry. The Camry is pretty peppy as it is with the 4 cylinder and the those pictures are amazing

Nope, but don't expect to see a detuned 2GR in there, unless a Toyota press release specifically states "an all new aluminum V6." The 3MZ will most likely be used for all V6 models with the highest power going to the SE model (260hp/260lb-ft) if Toyota keeps the SE around. Other V6 models should compare relatively well in terms of power with Honda and Nissan.

I would also expect Toyota to rework the gearing of the 5-spd automatics to match the power increases of each engine. The 5-spd manual would also be reworked. V6's might see a 6-spd automatic, of course, at the mid-cycle freshening.

I am hoping the 2007 Camry SE will get the 3.5L, but I think they will detune it to 260HP and the other model Camrys will get the 3.3L.

Camry mentions developing a hybrid to come next year. Will it be?
3.3L hybrid (in current use with RX, Highlander). Probable, as they'll likely squeeze the life out of the 3.3L as long as they possibly can.

270hp and 6spd? Where's your source? I find it odd that Toyota would make such a combination unless you mean for the local Australian market?

tehre's no way they'll put in a detuned avalon engine (2GR). The 2GR finally distinguishes the avalon from being an oversized camry or a cheap ES. Just wouldn't make any sense

Camry is not a large enough car to need a 3.5 Liter displacement.

Theres really no point to this thread, I just thought it would be fun to look back on what we thought the Gen 6 Camry would have. And I'm sure the same will happen with the Gen 6.5 and Gen 7.

Ahhhh the good old days of making tons of assumptions.

I should start one right now... I heard the 2010 Camry will have an option for the V8 IS-F engine. LMAO... Maybe I will see this one mentioned in a thread sometime in the future.

I wish Toyota would make an "F" line for accessories (bodykit accesories, wheels, springs, etc.) like Lexus is doing now. Makes me want an IS now.

haha, and I heard that the 2GR will be standard and will be mated with an 8 speed manual transmission :P
