5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Anybody has experience with the so called Blinglight Air Intake System for Gen6 Camry's? They claim a lot and are cheap ($125 resale, $70 Ebay)...but I also found a lot of bad news about these guys, even leading to the term "blinglighted". Any more info, comments?
Wow.. can't believe someone actually bought one... let me guess, no MAF housing and cheap filter right?
Yeah, I bought it before some members flamed some sense into me...
What was wrong with it...well for one, the car vibrated like hell, and it was a tight installation after retrieving those other parts, not only that, there was just no purpose...whoever the guy was, im guessing he's making a good profit selling all of those for $70 and putting in what seems like $15-$20.

It just amazes me how guys can come up (w/o having any issue with it) with those flashy advertisements, which makes it sound like so much better than the leading brands...and it is all a simple, big lie. Thanks for setting the record straight. After reading their ad again, I found they used about 80% of the text found on the K&N homepage... Amazing, somebody should take some actions on such crux
"INTAKE: This modification is good for about 1hp to the ground, BUT it helps with other mods. The most cost effective method is to get one off Ebay, Do not pay 180 bucks like many others do for the K&N FIPK. On Ebay, you can get them for about 40 dollars. It is the same thing, and none too critical to performance. Also, do not pay $200 for the nice shiny arm that some companies put out. Plenty of Ebay sellers have the SAME thing for under $50 shipped, a lot of times they come with a filter too."
This was quoted from 3si the biggest 3000gt forum I believe, back when I first bought a 3000gt this was a nice thread from a well respected member, I looked to it for modding info on my car. I believe this applies to these blinglight intakes as they are the only no-name intakes available atm.
I totally believed it since he definitely sounded like he knew what he was talking about, but I'm always a skeptic, on both sides. Perhaps its just these blinglights that are bad, I'm not sure. Personally from the intake I want my Camry to have a meaner more aggressive sound more so than the additional power, I like being a sleeper but I'd rather the car to have the appearance and sound level to back its performance.
