Don't have a SE but you probably would want to describe/define by what you mean by 'loud'. For example 'loud' as in engine noise or exhaust loundness or wind noise? It would probably help for those people who have SE...

i noticed when i first bought the car that it does idle pretty high when you first start it, sometime up to around 2,000 rpm's. if that's what youre talking about, its a normal thing, just the car trying to warm itself up.

if thats not it, well i guess you should join the club with the V6 complaints..

I actually thought that the V6 is extremely quiet. I've had maxima's, a bmw, and a new TL and the Camry is defintely quieter than all of them. Mines just as quiet as my in-law's 07 ES.

+ 1 - my V6 is not loud et all, very quiet engine and not much wind noise either. Let's see what he comes back with re what is loud - maybe something wrong with his

I have an 08 LE I4 which has normal, I guess, 4 cylinder noises, but my wife and I think road noise and other 'outside noise' is very high compared to our 04 Tundra Double Cab 4x4. You'll get used to it, eventually.

My 08' did not the $349 sound shield sealant package.
As soon as I got her home we put her up on jackstands
and removed the tires to spray on some of that rubberized
tar spray inside the front wheelwells.
Make sure the surface CLEAN and use multiple light coats.
Thats all Gulf States Toyota uses when they apply that product.
I think it made a slight improvement @ 80mph

sound gremlins living in cars are a difficult species to co-inside with.

If you dont' turn the volume up loud enough they'll keep making sounds.

Too much and they get mad and starting hitting things.

Turn it up just right, and they'll go to sleep. VIOLA no sound.

Just turn the volume knob until they go to sleep. I keep mine at 15-16 but varies by gremlin
