5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i own a 06 gen 5.5. and i love it. the 5th generations were from 02 to 06. the gen 6 is from 07 to 08 and i have to weed through mounds of complaining and buyers remorse to find gen 5 threads most of the time. gen 6s suck. yea we all know that. so get us 5ers out of here!
Personally, I think it's no big deal if people will once again be sure to put the correct Generation icon/symbol when they create a thread. On the other hand, I read all the threads since I don't mind learning about other cars lol.

dey got dem camrys in dang old nascar now mang.....
i agree with the fact that its a pain sifting through gen 6 complaints for us gen 5ers, but for the most part its ill informed noobs who dont know how to use the search function....once we have time i was talking to dana and king (eye8pussies) about installing a FAQ for gen 5 and gen 6 that should get rid of some of the redundous posting and help the new guys along better...in my mind this makes more logical sense than splitting the fourms up again, as we have some very helpful and kind gen 6 owners here who often help the gen 5 people out

Well, is there any way we can have an option of sorting the threads by Generation numbers? Can that be added to the search option by sorting the tagged threads that have Gen 4 or Gen 5 in them?

The Gen 6's aren't only from 2007-2008, they are from 2007-2011.
All of the other sections on TN either have the entire car in one sub-forum, regardless of year. Secondly, many people who have a Gen 5 help out us Gen sixers and vice versa, I don't want the sections to be separate.

low blow buddy low blow (i'm a huge Nascar fan)
Kidding aside..
I like the way they're together..i enjoy reading about the Gen6 and Gen5's saves a lot of forum jumping as well.
My Uncle also just purchased a Gen6 so i'll be even more intrested in them than i am now...hopefully he bought it and not leased...so i can mod it for him at his expense
i think its fine the way it is.. the gen 5's and 6's share the same engine so thats something in common.. and its just like the gen 3 and 4's.. diff body, same engines

To be fair, only the I4's share the same 2AZ engine, the V6's are different, 3MZ vs 2GR. But same 5spd automatic trannys, the U250.

yea thats what i meant.. each gen has a shared engine between gen 3 and 4(5sfe and the 1mzfe) and the gen 5 and 6 like u mentioned above. in actuality, the gen 5 actually has the 1mz in the lineup also..

I am not a gen5 expert, but did it earlier also have the 1AZ-FE in the lineup? That is what the Camry has in many Asia countries 1AZ-FE and 2AZ-FE but no V6.
