Gen5 Bateery Leak?

Hey whats up guys? On my 05 se v6 the battery hold down bar has lost the paint. It has been compleatly turned from black to a flaky white residue. It look like extreme heat was the cause. I took it to the dealership thinking i had a battery leak. they checked it and said the battery was fine. They didnt even know what happened. so they cleaned it all up and told me to wait till friday to get a new bar. no charge. has this happened to anybody else? please let me know thanks!!!

Corrosion coming from the sulfuric acid in the battery or the gas emitted through the battery vents.

Also affects your battery terminals.

My battery was leaking and the hold down corroded and flaked also. I installed an Optima battery, then stripped and repainted the hold down.

your car is broken, give your rims to me.. it has no hope anymore!~ lol

if the battery is fine, i would just clean it off with a rag and a wire brush, using a baking soda/water mixture.. this will help dissolve the corrosion.. my battery was pretty bad to the point where it wouldnt start and i thought the battery died.. i bought a new battery and while in the process of cleaning it off, i saw that the battery was fine.. i still replaced it but cleaning the terminals and clamps will do a world of difference
