5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So I am looking into getting my 2008 camry's tail lights tinted. Does anyone have any advice for me on that? As far as what to get and what not to get? I have never had tail lights tinited and I know a lot of places dont actually do it. I am out in the Ventura area, so hopefully I will find somewhere good out here. Thanks!
if you have oreilly's go in and ask them for VHT PAINT - NITE SHADE (TAILLIGHT COATING) Item No: SP999
at 10.99 its pretty cheap, take your tails out, clean them with a good prep pad like 3m, some say scuff them, might help might not, i didnt... and spray even coats like the directions say, i used most of one can on my gen 4 lights (all 4 tails and the spoiler light which i just taped off an painted on the car) and it came out really nice and you can see thru it very clearly when the lights are lit otherwise it looks black. also i havent done it yet, but clear coat over that when your done would help too. i have taken the car to the power wash car washes several times since doing this and no peeling or anything.
companies such as bluebatmobile do smoke overlays for taillights and they have ones for the gen 6/....run a quick search as stated above and youll come up with something
If you want them done professionally, send them out to JonsTintedTails. He does great work and the prices are very reasonable. The turnaround time isn't that bad either. You can check out a bunch of customer cars they have done including mine in their photo gallery on their website www.jonstintedtails.com.
For the tails I have several options. Full smoke in standard 6/10 and lighter 3/10 tint, full smoke with reverse and turn signal cutouts, redout turn signals and smoke reverse lamps .

To the OP...it really depends on what you want to do. Some guys like the paint tint, some like the overlays. I personally like the paint since it shines better(if done right). But for a slightly less permanent method I would go with overlays as many people have done it with great results. As other users have stated Bluebatmobile has done great work..I would go with that.

^^ is that pic taken in Galveston?
Anyways, to the OP, I would go with the Bluebat overlays. That way, if you don't like them after a while, you can take them off....possibly even re-use them if you peel em off right.

I agree, the Gen 4 Camry looks nice but I don't like the dull look of the taillights, and I prefer a much more "glossy" look.
