Hey iam gonna replace the stock speakers on my 07 camry le, without jbl and without nav.
i was looking at these http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...=3&tp=91&avf=N
just wondering if i should get an amp or not? because the stock sound is horrible
I want to suggest a 6.5 or 6.75 inch component set instead of 3-ways or coaxials like you posted because they will sound better. You may want to bypass the tweeters in the dash if you get new speakers.
I would suggest you go to a store and audition the speakers you intend to buy, and some others. Speakers are speakers, but they do not sound alike. Some have sharper trebles which some people like and others hate for example.
thanks for the help, and if i was to get a component system what kind of a setup would i need for an 07 camry? because doesnt a component system come with 2 woofers and 2 tweeters?
I'm not sure I understand your question. What do you mean what type of setup do you need?
A component set comes with two woofers, two tweeters, and two crossovers; one of each for each side. You connect the output from the source to the input on the crossover. You then connect the tweeter and woofer to the appropriate connection on the crossover. The crossover's job is to pass the appropriate frequencies to the appropriate driver.
Have you auditioned the ID 6x9s? I haven't but I thought the ID Chameleons and those are brighter than I liked. Do they have similar characteristics in sound?

The 6x9's that I heard were just the stock replacement versions and not the component versions. They were much more detailed than I expected but did not experience them to be overly bright or harsh. I would expect the component versions to sound much like the Chameleons.
my question now is would i need two component systems like one for the front and one for the rear? and would i be able to amplify both of those with one amp?
The front is more important, IMO, so I wouldn't bother with components for the rear. Just get a decent set of 6x9s unless you plan to get a sub in which case I wouldn't bother with the rears.
External amplification is optional. If you do, just make sure the speakers you're using can handle the output from the amp unless you know what you're doing.
If you want to amplify both the front and rear speakers with one amp, you'll need an amp that has four channels.
