Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
well i put in some hir bulbs and they only have a life of 250 hours so , i dont want the low wattage eating my hours plus my es300, tacoma and tc dont have drl's so y should the camry, it is not a law like it is in canada to have drls, it is an option, an option i dont want.
The Daytime run lights are a safety feature. Why some of you would want to defeat the purpose is beyond me. They're not meant for you to like. They're meant to catch other driver's eyes.

DRL's in my case are a pain in the rear. I have a 2001 Passat (purchased 3/2004 with 35k miles) and I now have 128k miles on it. Thanks to the DRL's (and Silver Stars) my lenses are so fogged over on the inside that it didn't pass inspection. It's very hard to see on dark roads at night, but thankfully the highways here are well lit. I just bought a 2005 Camry XLE, so the Passat will stay parked at night until I can replace the lenses (@ $150 ea). I am scrambling to find a way to disable the DRL's on my Camry (48k miles) so I am not in the same situation 5 years from now. I didn't realize how unsafe my Passat was at night until I drove the Camry at night. Looks like I'll have the dealer turn them off along with the blasted seat belt chime.

well this morning i stopped off and got the drl turned off, all 4 doors to unlock with one push, and the sunroof to open to position 2 with one touch, so no double tap.
now off to find the fog light relay.

if the moonroof now opens with one touch, how do u open it slightly or have it in the vent position?

You really blame the DRL's for lens fogging?

well there is a tilt button beside the slide buttom, the slid use to open it to about 2 inch before all the way, with one touch
the tilt button just raises it and lowers it.
oh ok thats like the rolla's. my 05 camry only has one button. you push the forward button to tilt. push the back button and hold to auto open or push it little by little to open it in increments.
I don't blame my DRL's for my lenses fogging up. I think it was a collective effort between the 96,000 miles I've put on the car in the last 44 months (about half done at night), using Silver Stars, scrubbing the lenses with a dryer sheet during bug season (in Louisiana, it's almost ALWAYS bug season...), and the DRL's. I think the DRL's were the least contributing factor, since they are still a lower powered low beam.
Most Passats that are as old as mine are fogging up, too. I think it's just part of the wear-and-tear of owning certain vehicles (remember the old Intrepids??). I just ordered projector-type lenses with black housing. They have halo angel eyes, which I think will look sharp with the silver on my Passat. I know this is a Toyota forum, but I'll post pics in my profile to show you guys how they came out.
The bottom line is I want to try to prevent this from happening my Camry prematurely.
