Gen5

That sound tells you time to change and buy new ones. but if the sound is still there after the "new" ones are put on and done, then there is another more serious problem or issue.

To set the record straight(for anyone that is confused) the rear brakes can squeel anytime the brakes are applied. Secondly after machining the brakes, you should wash the rotor with hot soap and water, secondly it sounds like the mechanic did not re-lubricate the slide pins. Like everyone else is saying also, shims could be the culprit. I will reinterate however, many of the squeeling problems from Toyota front brakes are slide pin related. Just my 2 cents.

Also sound coming from the rear? Sorry guy but the front brakes are your main brakes. The rear are your parking/emergency brakes, thus the handbrakes, so no, the sound isn't coming from back there. Here, have a cookie for the day.
xpeed, it looks like you lack basis! Before you make any statement like this you need to do some readings for starters. Go, for example to a site www.howstuffworks.com or alike. You will get basic information on how brakes work.
Front brakes do do the majority of work, but believe it or not rear brakes also contribute to the car being stopped.

Parking brake = hand brake sometimes actuate rear shoes but this is not a law. Some cars have their parking brake routed to the front wheels as well.
