Brakes

Got the good 'ol grinding sound in my brakes again. The service department showed me that the brakes are still 60-70% there. They didn't check rotors or calipers though. Could it be b/c the rotors need to be turned or the calipers need to be greased a little bit?

What year is the car? There is a TSB out for the Gen 6 with front/rear brake squeak.

Got an '07! It's not a squeak though, it's a real grind!

Hmm.. the only "grinding" I know of is where theres that thin layer of rust that forms on your rotors overnight when its humid out. The first couple of feet when you stop make a "grinding" noise.

Other than that, my friend's highlander was grinding, but that was because a rock was embedded in the pad and was scraping the rotor. Sounded awful. Check the pads to see if there a clean contact.
