USA chaging the bulbs for the standard headlights

hey guys. i was wondering if its possible for me to switch out the current H11 55W halogen bulbs to either a higher wattage halogen bulb or a higher output halogen bulbs? is this even feasible? my car is a lease so i dont wanna spring for the HID conversion kit, but i would like some brighter headlights. thanks.

I wouldn't go for higher wattage because you run the risk of melting your wiring harness. I would check out Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs.. Stock wattage but supposedly brighter and whiter light.

I just bought some 55W Osram Night Breakers +90% for my lows. They should be here within a week. They are supposed to be pretty bright. Not many reviews online yet, but the ones I've read are positive. They just came out at the end of last year. We'll see....

Please post pix if you find something that has better light output than the OEM headlight bulbs...of course besides going to HID ....

I've been looking for quite some time now but I haven't found anything yet so far...

Lol, I was going to suggest the HID's. I have the 35W kits with the compact ballasts.

Here is a pic of the ballast.

It makes a HUGE difference - especially over the 100/110W aftermarket bulbs.

What is the price range on one of these HID conversion kits?

Since all the ebay pnp kits come from China....really cheap. you get what you pay for, and you blind other drivers if you use them with out a proper retro, or at the very least, covering the squirl spotter.

The ones I have are not from ebay, and they come with a full warranty. The ballasts are compact and digital. With the stock projectors, there is no chance of blinding other drivers. I'll try and get some night shots.

Yep, please do let us know where you ordered them, and what you think about them!

I got the Night Breakers put in tonight, and I would have to say that my lows perform a lot better than they use to. They are a good bit brighter than stock and they seem to light up more pavement in front of the car. I hope they last. Maybe I should keep my originals in the trunk just in case.

I have Silverstars Ultra Brights for my Gen 5. They are definitely brighter and project further down the road.

Good, good, now where did you get them? Presumably you ordered them online somewhere?
