Hey Guys/Gals--

Looking for some input on the Black Halo Lights on my Gen 5 CAM.. I want to start some mods on the car and the first thing I've been itching to replace are the front headlamps..

im going to get at you before everyone else does..

1. there is a search button in that big red section at the top of the page.. use it. this has been touched upon over and over and over again.
2. they are crap. period.
3. throw up a description of your car. what year, color, trim level, etc.

I'd love to see what these look like on a Camry in action, and what type of light output the projector has. I know it's talked about quite often, but I don't recall ever actually seeing them installed on a Camry, or at least seeing photos of them installed.

I'm wondering why as well. I used the search, but all I've found are other threads that this is bad bad bad.. but why? Ok, I could see that if you were trying to do a HID conversion at the same time, but whatif you're not.

I couldn't really find any pics as well, showcasing halos.

What's the scoop on the HID conversion.. the pic I posted was a generic brand.. I really would want the same black housing with a HID 4300K clear white or diamond blue.

2004 Camry LE 4-cycle 2.4L DOHC 16-valve VVT-i 4-cylinder Lunar Mist..

I'm a noobie.. looking to you guys for some solid feedback..

The projectors are crap. The light output is about half of what the stock light output is.

the reason why they are bad is because of poor build quality, not to mention reduced light output due to crappy projectors being used. if you want to do it right, retrofit HID projectors into OEM SE headlights with the black housing. if you want to learn more about retrofitting, go to hidplanet dot com. there have been quite a few users, a handful with gen 5/5.5's that have retrofitted HID projector. you can search their names and a retrofit thread is bound to come up: white3chocolate, LE05, poohbear, just to name a few.

I tried them once, so I know from experience. What I found was the light output was bright (never had them outside, so can't vouch for distance). The problem I had was the fitment was bad. The bottom bolted connection fit, but the top connection was at least one inch too short to reach the hole it needed to reach. I ended up getting rid of them rather than deal with trying to force them to fit, or fabbing something up to make them fit. I have since purchased the items to do a complete retrofit and once my life slows down, I will finish them and know they will fit and be of better quality. Sorry for the bad news

MrSo0h0o thanks for the good info... the HIDs are really what I'm looking for, I just liked the black housing.. the 04 models didn't have the black housing not until the 05's SEs came out.. naturally I was heated because it makes the car look way more stylish... but more than that I'm looking for more output than what I have with the stock lights. I'll research more.
