Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey all,
I'm new here on TN. Found it on Google trying to look for ways to pull out my backseat for the wires for a sub install. Does anyone know the best way to wire the car for subs? I'm gonna use the pre-existing JBL amp for my signal, so I'll probably be doing some wire splicing. How can i do that without having all my wires be seen by other people?
The seat bottom cushion should just lift off, and the two side pieces will unbolt once you have the seat bottom off. I dunno where you go from there though. I assume you just slide the wires through any way you can in a way they won't get pinched once you've removed the three above mentioned pieces.
I have fold down seats so that probably helped with my install.

i tried taking out the backseat, and its not as easy as i thought, i kept pulling at it, and nothing happened. is there a latch or something somewhere? or a clip? or a certain way i should take it out? my friend and i have both been trying to look for the service manual for the camry so we can take apart the other body panels as well for the wires to go underneath, but no luck so far.
You've been looking for or through the manuals? The factory service manuals are posted here.
I just remember XLE has reclining seats...that could be why your seats aren't lifting off. I just pulled up on the seat bottom cushion to remove it. It was clipped in at two places.

As others said, let a professional do the seats - they are tricky due to the reclining mechanism. On another note: I do not recommend just to wire the sub into the JBL amps...will not give you the effect you are looking for. Better, tap into the signal from one of the rear speakers with a frequency bridge and add a simple $200 mono amp (or even cheaper), which drives the sub. If you use a mono amp with gain control, you can wire the gain adjust to the front dash so that you can change the sub volume when changing the balance/fade on the headunit. Just a thought.

I had mines done at a shop. I added a seperate amp for the sub because the stock one won't be able to give addequet poer for the syb. Well, that's what they told me and I bought it. The amp for the sub is mounted under the driver's seat. I plan to swap out the factory amp for a more powerfull amp to run the JBL speakers.
