During cold mornnings, when I reverse the car and then put it in drive, the car kicks.

Does yours do that?
Is this a major issue? A known problem

Gen 5's don't have legs, so they can't kick.

Does your car puke too?

Hey your funny. I haven't heard that one since grade 3. Grow up. And I can't believe the second jerk that actually thought that was funny. sheesh. What a bunch of Sh$theads.

If you guys don't have anything better to say than shut the f*CK up.

I normally don't get pissed off, but lately I've been seeing too many of these non-sense post.

You really need to chill out.

The "non-sense" was saying that your car "kicks". Are you sure it doesn't "jump"? Maybe it "punches". Has it ever "tripped"?

Are you for real??? It's a figure of speech.

Like I said, most of the time I don't get pissed off, but don't you guys think that there's a little too much of this crap. too many smart ass remarks. Sure, it's okay to throw in some laughs every now and then, but don't be a jerk about it.

My car grinds going into second and sometimes it kicks me out if it's colder than 40F or so for the first few minutes of driving. My guess is it's something to do with the gear oil flowing like molasses when it's cold and not lubricating everything as well as it could when it warms up a bit. As for kicking...maybe you're letting off the clutch too fast?

But you live in Richmond...does it even get that cold in NorCal?

^ You could be right...though he could also be from Richmond, Nova Scotia. It would be colder there I think.

When's the last time the trans fluid or gear oil was changed?

lol i looked at this post and i was like, wait.. this isn't njerald?

its common for the car to kick. My Gen6 kicks at times because of...

When I don't warm up my car, my RPM is still very high. As you know, if your rpm is at a high level and you put it in gear, it'll kick. Also, if you don't have your brakes applied while changing gears, its more prone to kicking. I wouldn't worry about your car. Its normal.

let your car warm up before you put it in gear.. obviously the car is going to "kick" if you are trying to shift it into drive when your RPM's is 1800.. you are trying to shift the car into park while the engine has a load on it.. that kick you feel is your engine mounts taking a really bad beating..

bottom line, let your idle come down to normal(800-1000 rpm)

it might just not be in gear yet.. too many people do rolling shifts in autos these days..

my old car had to be at a complete stop and i would wait for it to actually change gears or else it would kick/slip pretty bad

...but it was a ford too

I wish that someone would explain what it means when a car "kicks".

After being in the automotive industry my entire life, I've still not come across that term...
