5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Went into my local dealership, for a 2008 0 miles, Camry SE with JBL/Sunroof, 4-cyl after discounts and rebates he quoted me $21,800, giving me $8700 for my 2004 Mazda 6i (I owe $6000 on it).
The $21,800 is w/o tax, tags, etc.. After all said and done I would be fiancing $19,950.
Used ones are hard to come by, and really not much cheaper. You guys think this is a good price? You think I could get him to go $18k out the door price?
That price is pretty much the published invoice minus the current $700 rebate. It's a good (not great) price, but I think it's possible for you to get another $500 off.
I'm not understanding your math here...how did you arrive at the 19,950 figure for financing?
To your post1 - I think he mentioned the price before subtracting the trade in. Also, don't judge people on their financing and finances....especially if many here on TN did not have to pay for their car but got it from mom and dad handed ....
BTW, financing is not a sign of not having money, trust me, I have been around the block a while .... Imagine you have 30k cash and enough income to pay for a loan...I buy the car on loan for a 4-6% rate, which is typical, and invest the cash in a diversified portfolio, which yields 10%+ return....
....especially if many here on TN did not have to pay for their car but got it from mom and dad handed ....
Ooooooooh.. but, if my parents had wanted to given me a car, I would take it..
Its good to have something that i have ( or am currently) payed for though

As of March 1, another $2200 body shop bill due to deer attack..
Sales Tax: $786.00 (6% in PA)
Doc Fee: $55.00
Registration: $36.00
Other Fees: $27.50
Waste Tire Management Fee: $5.00
Subtotal: $14,004.50
Pay-Off Of Trade: $5,949.00
Total Cash Due: $19,958.50
I would be fiancing $19,958.50. So you think I could get it lower than this?
I would think you can try to negotiate for a couple 100's on the sale, not sure the value of your trade-in as it really depends on condition...but you are not miles off the target. Decide what you feel comfortable with and don't listen too much to others though.

Sure, all of us would take it - no brainer, duh. Same for having it paid off etc. But I don't judge others on their (long) financing options no matter how my financial position is. Many here on TN are too young to know how difficult finances become when you have family with kids, house, college to pay off, medical, day care and whatever....

i just said the car could be used or 72 months... how is having 72 months to pay off ur car a bad thing?
its funny how u jumped on me when the other guy said "How does anyone manage to owe 6 grand on a 4 year old car?" and i was just sayin the possibilities
im not here to put anyone down, i dont care if his car is used or financed for along time
to jmargel: u should take ur car to carmax and see how much theyll give u, usually theyll give u a better offer for ur car than the dealers

Apology - did not mean to jump on you but make a general comment to the impression on that forum that people with long loan financing have problems (like post from gdanaher). Again, sorry, did not mean to single you out and should have included his post as reference. I admire people who have not much money and still manage to take core of their live and have some left to mod cars. when I was in that situation - I was not that wise.
