A/C light comes on with heat question

Hi everyone I just recently purchased a 2005 Camry XLE and anytime the heater is turned on manually or set to auto the a/c light comes on? Why is this and does the compressor kick in? Thanks, Chuck

Is it set to defrost? A/C always runs during defrost to remove humidity.

Same on 2007, Just hit the button to turn it off and then shut car off without turning Heater off and the next time it will come on without A/C and yes the compressor does cycle. Be sure to run A/C a few time during the winter to cycle the compressor to prevent drying of seals.
