Steering Wheel Covers?

Hi all, hope you don't mind a tacoma guy invading your space , but I have a question. My mom recently purchased an 08' Camery and she is wanting a leather steering wheel cover. I have looked into getting her a Wheelskins cover, but was wondering what other options there might be, and what some of you might have. Thanks

Jared

You could probably swap a XLE or SE steering wheel. Those have 4 or 3 spoke steering wrapped in leather stock regardless if the car has leather interior.

I had talked to her about swapping the steering wheel, but she wont go for it. Doesn't like the thought of her new car being "torn apart". So I guess her options are limited then. Thanks for the suggestion, if it were my car thats what I would do.

I have not seen much discussion about that topic on this forum. In the past I used some covers but was always disappointed with the fit and often even the look. Definitely would not recommend the cheap covers from autozone etc. Maybe the easiest way is to have an upholstery guy making you one the way your wife likes it? Nice, thick leather, tightly all wrapped around and hold in place with some large stitching...

Yeah I went in to Advanced Auto Parts the other day to pick up some fuses, and I asked the guy what kind of covers I could order from them and he said "why order one, we have a bunch over here" they had a decent selection if you like frogs, or flowers and dragons . No offence if anyone has one of those, just don't think my mom would like it . I hadn't though about a custom cover, I'll look into that. But for the price I may just go with my first instinct the Wheelskins.

Thanks for the suggestions.

That's really not bad. I was wondering where you got it before reading this post. It's by far the nicest one I have seen for steering wheel cover.

That wood? is in the wrong place. It should be at the top and bottom.

The soft areas should be at the sides where you hold the wheel.

Doesn't look like it would work that way, its not an even gap between the wood trim.

Got a pic of your woodie? Can't say that I've seen one.

Agreed. I think he used it in the correct way. It's supposed to be different from the real wood steering wheel.

Good point and what Njerald refers to is also how the wood aftermarket wheels are done and most wood OEM wheels I have seen. But does it really matter? Back in time, they had many more "all wood" wheels for lux cars.
