rims and tires

i have a toyota camry 2002 silver. i want to change the rims and tires. i have the factory tire and rims which i think is 15". i want to make the car looks good but i dont want to have the very skinny tire. i dont want to feel all the bumps on the road. my friend suggest to go with 17" or 18" rims. what do you think? will the car looks good with 17" or 18" rims? should i go with chrome or painted? people say chrome looks nice but it gets mess up in the snow and there other problems too. any suggestions out there? any nice rims that you know of that you can recommend? please send me link if so

17s would be better for comfort and you wont get that skinny tire. it would greatly improve the look of the car coming from 15s. as for design and color scheme, it really is personal taste.

you live in jersey so i would suggest having a winter setup and a summer only setup becasue of winter road grime and salt. salt is what really messes up chrome, your chrome could be done for after only one winter.

so with that, get whatever rims you like for the summer, chrome or painted, i like the look of black rims on light colored cars, or black with a machined/chrome lip. i would suggest 18s for great looks and good comfort, or 17s for good looks and better comfort.

if you want to make it look good during the winter you could get a nice set of alloys, like something from the camry se or some lexus models, but its fine to just keep the rims and tires you have now for winter. it all depends on your budget and how much you want to spend on what aspects of your car

is there a big different between the 18" and 17" rim and tire that goes with it.
if there is no big different, i would rather go with 18.
another question, i am new when it comes to rim. i check a couple of website and i see the rims such as 17x6, 17x7. what is that number after the x and what would be a good number for my car year?

That is the diameter and the width of the wheel in inches. Keep in mind those measurements are from the bead seat.

For your car, go with a 17x7 +45mm to 50mm offset with 215/50-17 tires. I felt that 215/50-17 tires on my 2000 Camry were a very good compromise between ride and performance. There are also a lot of tires to choose in this size.

If money is a concern, go with 17s. The wheels and tires will be less expensive and may save gas.

Good rims I suggest.... BBS RGR, BBS RS-GT, Volk RE30 are some good ones. Maybe BBS forged Mg RE
