Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hi all!
You guys probably remember me posting TEST DRIVE V6 with flares post. I test drove bunch of V6 and all of them had a flare (different dealerships, different deals and prices). I even was going to pay little more if I can find no flare+my options+color. But I was unfortunate, or fortunate, not to find the one without flare. I found only one with smooth tranny which was XLE, but I can't afford it. And after all I test drove I4 and realized that there is not such a huge difference, the car is the same, well yes V6 is much lighter goes as you ask her by pushing the gas pedal, but I4 on other hand is pretty quick and I've driven I4 for a year and never had any complaints on how quick or slow car is. Also it is more economic on gas and on repairs, well and on the sticker as well.
Anyways, to make the story short I decided to go with I4 LE Desert Sand. I test drove and reserved the car at the dealership, tomorrow going to pick it up!!!
Any thoughts? Anything you want to say V6 drivers before I buy it? Or anything you want to say I4 drivers before I buy it?
BTW I got a really good deal ( i hope) LE for $18.500 before tax tags loan.
Any suggestions comments will be highly appreciated!
Have a great day!
i very much support your logic and reasoning for buying the the I4 and all i have to say other than that is.. I4 FOR THE WIN!
sounds like a pretty good deal to me, my ce was stickered at 17,something wiht a manual and without the options you have so i agree on the deal you got

I have both an I4 and the V6. I'd say buy whichever you are more comfortable with based on your opinion on the flare issue and the final price, but don't expect to save money on gas. They are practically identical of gas mileage with the V6 acutally doing a bit better on the highway than the I4.

And when did you have a V6 to test out the actual mileage for yourself?

there is no chance in hell the v6 gets better gas mileage than my i4.. my car has a highway rating of 34 which i can easily achieve, the v6 with an auto has highway of 28 and i can guarantee you that it does not get 34 mpg no matter how you drive it.. if you can prove me wrong ill give you my car.....
and my payments

$18,500 is the normal price for LEs in our region if you are paying cash.
You tested drive every V6 with flare. That does not sound right. I bought my SE V6 without test drive it, and it is perfect. No flare and no transmition hesitation. My SE was built on Jan 03, 2008. I test drive some demo SE V6 (no flare too) in the dealership, they did not have the color that I want in stock, so I wait a couple of week for my new car to come. I did not test drive the car, just checked everything inside out, and luckly it is all good so far.

According to many threads on here, there are plenty of I4 owners who are less than happy about their actual mpg which is less than advertised. In my V6, I get 31 highway.
