Gen6 My next car a Gen 6.5 Camry or other car?

The payments on my Gen 5.5 camry is almost up. (The FX got another couple of months) Got another 14 months of payments. So I was thinking about my next new car. I was thinking of keeping the FX since my mom likes it so much, and give the Camry to my little brother. So there won't be a trade in or such. Just a big-ass downpayment. Around $8500 downpay.

So I ended up with four options. Let me tell you, I'll be getting it with a manual tranny no matter what.

1.) Wait for the Gen 6.5 camry to come out or the Gen 7
2.) Get the new Matrix XRS coming out.
3.) Nissan 350z.
4.) 2008 Subaru Legacy GT

My price cutoff will be below $30k.

I'd have to wait till the new model comes out for the camry before I can test drive it and the new matrix as well.

I got an estimate for the 350z from a local dealer with the options i wanted and such with the final price sticker of $28,943. This includes close ratio 6-spd manual, leather seats, Nismo Cat-back exhaust, Nismo rear wing, 18" factory rims, aluminum trimmings and splash guards.
With my $8500 downpayment and a 3-year payment plan, I'm looking at $485 monthly payments with 10% APR. My credit rating is pretty high too so it helps.

Not a bad price for the options it comes in.

But the Subaru is mighty tempting too since it's a flat-4 turbocharged awd with 5-spd manual (The 3.0 GT offers 6-spd but costs an additional $5k, so that's over $30k). Hmmm.....what do you guys think of my options?

I can already see list of mods I've made out for it.

^ STi at MSRP starts at $35k. I want to keep it under $30k. If I can find a new STI for under $30k, I would get one.

You can actually buy a new STI for $30K out the door. I almost bought one for around the same price. Another alternative is to buy a WRX and for alittle under $2K you can make it as fast as a STI in a straight line.

Really? So far, all the dealers I've checked sell the STI over $32k.

if you're going from a Camry, i don't know if you'd like the ride of the Matrix..my dad has one..it's alright but not enough power. though it is fun around the twistys...i'd checkout the Corolla XRS before the Matrix.

Suggest you check auto loan rates at a credit union near you. Almost all are eligible to join these days. New car loans at my credit union start at 4.9% APR.

Gen5

i have a radical idea... why don't you keep your gen 5.5 camry AFTER it's all paid off... what a crazy idea, owning a car and not having to make payments on it every month, who'd a thought of that?

i'd get the legacy. those things are spacious, powerful, awd and the rumble sounds better than the STi. plus, you wont get pulled over as much when compared to the STi or the Z
