Hello Everyone! Introductions from Your Newest Member and Some Questions...

Hello Fellow Camry Owners!

I am the owner of an '08 SE V6 in Blue Ribbon Metallic, which we picked up just going on three weeks ago, and wanted to introduce myself!

The car is tinted, and I had my dealership in Vegas chrome out the 18" TRDs, which look pretty amazing...

I'm not that impressed yet with the ride quality of this vehicle -- coming out of a '99 Accord EX V6 Coupe which was totaled last Super Bowl Sunday (not this previous one) when a drunk driver hit us head on and put me in ICU for two weeks -- which seems to border on "Un-Toyota-like" in terms of rattles, shakes and creaks...this COULD be because of the tires wrapped around the TRD rims, but since owning it, I can sense going over bumps that the roof and rear window seem to "creak" and "squeak" like they're going to break; there's also not a great feel of "quality" to this vehicle....but, it DOES have the great look I was aiming for with the body kit and nice stance -- no doubt, people at the car wash ALWAYS think it's a Lexus pulling up...

I have some questions about the JBL Six Disc changer, for those of you with this option...what's the best way to set the Bass, Treble and Midrange for the system? I have learned that each input -- AM, FM and CD -- have different tone settings that can be remembered from the radio, but what's a good setting for these? Right now, my CD is set to Bass 2, Treble 3 and Mid 0...should the midrange be set on something else?

Looking forward to meeting all of you!!

I always had my Treble maxed out, Mids at about 3 or 4, and bass at -2

It really depends on what kind of music you listen to. I listen to newer alternative rock/punk, and country. If you listen to rap, You may want more bass

Hey Lammy!

That's so funny that you wrote just now; me and my lady were JUST checking out pictures of YOUR ride in the gallery, and I was saying how much you made it look like a GS400....

I'll work on getting those pics for you; they're basically the TRDs....the 10 spokes....but chromed, of course, with the TRD logo in red still in the center cap...

Thanks for the welcome!!

Hey JSM,

Thanks for the info; so, you had your Treble on "5" (which is Toyota's way of saying "Max") and mids at 3 or 4...I listen to music such as you, alternative rock mainly, and find that I need at least 1 on the bass; my concern is mainly the MIDRANGE and how to set this; does leaving the mid on zero do anything, per se, to the sound?

Your chrome TRD rims should look good on your car. There is another member here that has the same color as your car with the chrome GS rims. The chrome goes well with your color.
Are you planning to lowered your car? Let the modding begin...

Indeed, the Blue does look good with the chrome, but I can tell already that this paint, with its metallic flakes, is going to be a BITCH to maintain...already I see signs of swirl marks and spiderwebbing and scratches and she's only a few weeks old...

The only regrets I have about the wheels is that I should have gone with like bigger aftermarket jobs -- like 20's or larger to fill these wheelwells...

And no I wasnt planning on lowering it, but you know what Im kicking myself for? I only learned AFTERWARDS that there's a TRD lowering kit available from the factory....

I know the ride, with the sideskirts from the SE, would look sick lowered on the TRDs but, at my age already, I think I'll be okay with the stock ride for now...

welcome to TN!
nice choice in color! blue ribbon looks awesome on gen 6 SEs
in terms of ride quality, the SE doesnt have the most luxurious ride...it has a suspension designed for more sporty handling and a stiffer ride, and it doesnt cancel out bad roads as well as your XLE, base or LE camrys do...its designed to be a more fun camry...
it depends on what you want....i like the cushy ride of the standard camry but i much perfer the stiff feel and better handling of the SE

Thanks for the welcome Cor!

Yes, indeed I know the SE is the sports model, made with different springs, suspension, etc; I was not looking for the luxurious ride of the XLE...it's just that the shudders and creaks over some bumps and uneven pavement seem to transmit a nasty noise to the rear of the moonroof and down to the back window...I sometimes even get a vibration of the rear window when my foot is on the gas at a red light or such; any of you SE owners get this?

Oh come on, don't make it sound like you're old?
You can't be any older than I am.
I think one of the few members here are older than me is "Old Dood and Rocketace".....remember, I'm always young at heart!
