I really don't know whats going on... first my remote to lock my car stops working and it wont take the programming. After about a month now when I turn my car off the horn starts going off as if I pressed the panic button. Do I need to get a new electronic part or something.. has anyone had experience with this..? Thanks
why don't you try a small test... hide the borken key chain far enough from your car so it won't interfer with the test. Use the spare key chain remote and see if everything works. If it does, then it's just a bad remote.
Of course it's really hard to be helpful without information like what car it is and what remote/alarm system you have.
Post more information.
If you have an SET alarm system installed (it's possible, you're in FL an SET state), they do have problems with the receiver/alarm box itself. I had a similar problem with mine ('06 Camry) and simply replacing the receiver cured the problem. If you determine that is the cause, you will need the number off of the box itself to order a new one.
Sorry, I have an 03 Camry.. I did buy it in FL but I dont think it's a SET alarm.. not even sure. I havent used the remotes, the alarm just goes off without me pressing anything. I took the batteries out of the remote to see if it is bugged but still no effect. I disconnected the battery for a while and it seems like it stopped for now.
What does the alarm light look like? Does the alarm light double as a push button also? Did you buy the car new? If so, does the window sticker list a factory alarm system? Which '03 Camry is it (LE, SE, XLE)?
It's obvious that you have a Camry, but without knowing what your options are it's really hard to figure out what alarm system you might have.
If you could supply as much information as possible it would make it much easier to help you out. Pics of the alarm light would be helpful if you don't know what the differences are.
My alarm/panic whatever has a mind of its own too. It went off at work about 5 times one day nearly two months ago. Dealer found nothing. It just did it again this week, once in the driveway Wed night, and 4-5 times during the day at work. It's parked far enough away that I can't signal it to start or stop.
This is the factory alarm that came with the car - 07 XLE purchased in FL about Nov 06. I'm in Indy now. The dealer says it should only come on when a door is opened. Mine is the only one they've seen with the problem.

My 2005 xle, which i've owned for a week, started doing this to me after work tonight. Reset, checked all the doors, and locked again... an hour later it sounded off again. did this three times , then disconnected the battery.
Any news on what this might be caused by, and a fix?
The fix to the panic alarm is to have Toyota replace the hood latch. Not only did the alarm go off, but I was getting hood unlatch and moonroof open as well. My dealer didn't know about a fix 3 weeks ago but they've had more cars with the problem and now can fix it. Time will tell.
