Tint question: Tucking of rubbers/Removing door panels
I decided to get my windows tinted on my 08 Camry SE but I have a couple questions.
1. There are two reputable shops in the greater toronto area that I have narrowed down to. Same price, same warranty, same tint material for all 5 windows. The only thing is one shop tucks in the rubber on the windows as opposed to removing the door panels where as the other shop does not tuck in the rubber but does in fact remove the door panel to complete the job. My question is, is there anything wrong with removing the door panel? it's a fairly new car and I don't want the shop to screw anything up.
2. Second question being what tint percentage would look fairly decent on a white camry SE. Legal limit on front windows here is 35% but you can go as dark as you want in the rear. Also, the interior of the car is the dark charcoal colour and leather, in case that makes a difference.
Any suggestions would be more than appreciated.
Thanks guys

Reason: interior colour
removing door panel to finish the job? I never had to do that when I got mine tinted...
as for your tints, it depends on what look/functionality you want. It all varies on people's tastes. Like mine, I wanted the darkest possible, so I got 5% front, and double 5% rear.
Good luck...

I get mine tinted tomorrow 35% all around. As in CA, it is the lowest legal tint and I want to have the tint the same on all windows - looks better, I think. I also want them to remove the panels, that is the right way to do it by a shop. If you do it on your own, you might not want to but removing the panels makes sure the tint goes all the way to the bottom of the glass window and their will never be a chance that the tint is too short and peels off. If you try to tuck it behind the molding only, it is a very short overlapp only and you can get issues with the applications such as bubbles. So, at the same cost - use the one who removes the panels - my recommendation.
I have 50% on the front and 20% on the rear which I really like. I would advise you don't get 5% on the rear because it makes backing really difficult if it's dark out.
Depending on the lighting, sometimes my tint looks the same which was not the desire effect because I'm no supposed to tint the front windows at all.
Thats the only pic i have of it right now. I would take some pics but my dad took my camera on his vacation. Its 20% all around and the interior is black leather. Oh yeah i got my tints done at a place called "Ziebart"

You're also in ontario, have you ever been hassled by cops for 20% all around?
My suggestion to OP: Just go to the nearest Toyota Dealership and ask where they have their cars tinted. I asked that to my dealership and they gave me the name of the shop. This way, you won't have to deal with shops that have never done a Camry before.

+1 on asking the dealer. My Camry came tinted from the dealer (done for a previous buyer who backed out - so I didn't have to pay). They did 20% all the way around. Good stuff, well installed.
35% is the darkest you can legally do in Ontario on the front windows. I did 35% on all windows as I wanted a consistent and more elegant look. I suppose it's all personal preference. I brought mine to the provider Whitby Toyota uses - called Protint. They did a nice job and didn't remove any panels (I watched while they did it). You can check out my pics in my Gallery photos. I believe they have one location in Whitby and one in Hamilton (www.protint.ca). Good luck.

My I ask how you came up with "wetherburner"? Sounds interesting.
