Offset question

Whats up TN. I'm new to TN but not new to Camry's (sort of) and definitely to toyota. I drive a 2003 Supercharged Corolla with a lot of ther TRD goodies. My brother will be picking up a Gen 6 Camry SE V6, Silver exterior, black interior by the end of next week.
He has requested me to find him a set of wheels. I am not too familiar with some details and I asked Adam (ASG14) since he's a friend and he suggested checking up on here.
I know the bolt pattern is 5x114, I know they are 215's so I can only assume the wheel to be 17x7.

Now my question is what is the widest tire I can fit on a camry? What is a suggested offset or a range on the offset?

What offset would work best with TRD springs?

Thanks
Rish

You will find a lot of information on "Gen5&6 DIY" thread in the sticky section at the top page. Here is the link of the "Wheels & Tires" inside the "Gen5&6 DIY"

I understand what offset is and how it works. That really wasnt my question. I am more concerned with what range of offset will work with the camry. I've gone through 3 sets of wheels on my corolla so as far was knowing how offset affects wheels, I think I'm pretty sure of that.

It really depends on the size of the rim and tire.

So you tell us how wide you want to go and we will give you an offset #.

He's looking at 19" rims and the one that he likes is 19x8.5. Wheelmax suggested 245/40/19's. As far as the drop, he's looking to go with TRD since I can get them for $175 + shipping.

This is what I posted on the other thread but he has 19x8.5 +38 offset.
with 235/40/19. But now you want to go with 245/40/19 it will be very close overall diameter with 245/35/20. It will fit offset +38, +40, +45 but it won't fit anything less than +38.
Here is the link so you can do the tire calculation.
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos

----------------------------------
It will be close but you'll be ok.
I had 20x8.5 +38 offset with 245/35/20.
Here is a comparison
245/35/20 is tire 1. 235/40/19 is tire 2
Your overall diameter is smaller by -.35 of an inch and your section width is smaller by -40.
I rubbed a littel on the rear going over the spead bumps.
You should be good to go.

The rim's he's looking at i just double checked are +38 offset so I guess with 245/40/19 those will be fine. I checked on the tire size earlier and i think its 0.9mph faster than the OEM size with 245/40/19. 235/40/19 is dead on. I assume 235 should also work on a 8.5" wide rim?

Thanks for the input btw guys!

235 on 8.5 is fine.
