Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
hey whats guys, just hoping someone can help me and my friend out. He recently bought an 08 camry se, and upgraded to the sport leather package ( had to convince him it was worth it) well he picked up the car a few weeks ago and first thing i noticed that he didnt have VSC or Traction control ? The light doesnt come on ( like mine ). We punched it from a stop and the traction control doesnt come on either. Doesnt toyota offer VSC and Traction control standard when you get a V6 SE with leather, JBL sound system, sunroof. Is there anyway he can add it or is he stuck without it?
i seriously doubt it'll be worth the time, effort, and money to add VSC... if it even is possible. there's far too many components, and i'm sure its a complicated system. Didn't your friend check all the options on the vehicle BEFORE he bought it?

He assumed it did because of the package he got, when i turn my key just before im about to start it ( all the lights pop on, including VSC and Traction) well hes doesnt. Kinda feel bad for him, prolly excited about the car and didnt think twice about it.

According to toyota.com the VSC/TRAC is not standard and a single option on the SE (not bundled with leather sport seats etc or anything). It's sometimes funny how they do that. My XLE had an option package including Nav and VSC/TRAC. But I agree, I would have thought VSC/TRAC is standard on a SE...but I guess it's looked at as a safety feature and not a sport edition feature. Upgrading afterwards is probably not very realistic.
but is the big deal about it, i have went out and tested it all it feels like to me is that they apply the brakes on rear tires to keep the car stright.
i would say he is stuck.

well you know what they say when you assume...
i'm afraid your friend is stuck with it... the cost to add the vsc is probably quite high and not entirely feasible. might as well buy a new car with it if you're going to spend that much money.

VSC is an option for SE V6 even the car comes with leather + JBL + sunroof. The option for VSC is VS on the Vehicle Inquiry Report, and it is factory installed accessories. The MSRP for VSC is $650.
