Unhappy Help With 08 Camry Se Problem!!

Hey all,

So I bought an 08 Camry SE (4Cyl) about a month and a half ago and it has 2200 Km's (1367 Miles). This evening on the way home from work the engine electronic system malfunction light came on (the one at the bottom right of the console). I checked the manual and the light could be electronic throttle, automatic transmission etc... The car drove fine and felt normal so I'm not sure what it could be.

The only thing different about tonight is that there is a major snow storm here and the snow was pretty deep on the way home (got stuck a few times) and definitely made some contact with the bottom of the car (all soft snow though, no ice). Obviously I will bring the car in for service a.s.a.p. as I am no expert but does anybody have any idea what this could be?? This is a brand new, well cared for vehicle, so it worries me a bit.

Thanks in advance.

Have you filled up with gas lately? Maybe check if your gas cap isn't twisted on enough times. I can't remember if that's the light that appears or not. If it is the gas cap, it could take a day or two to go away after you tighten it.

Well it says on the cap to "tighten until 1 click" which I did when I filled it up yesterday and the light only came on today so I don't think it's that although it could be.

if your saying sonow made contact with the bottom of the car, maybe you knocked off one of the O2 sensor. Look under the car and make sure nothing is hanging. Also check your fuel cap.

"This evening on the way home from work the engine electronic system malfunction light came on (the one at the bottom right of the console)."

Is the light still on or did an amber light come on momentarily and then go off. If it came on and went off, I'm thinking that you may be talking about the traction control light, if your car is equiped with traction control. It comes on when your wheels start to slip to show you that it is being activated; then it goes off.

If you are actually talking about the check engine light (sometimes referred to as the MIL light), then by all means take it back to your dealer. This is why you have a warranty.

Mike
