My baby, as you all well know already, in Blue Ribbon Metallic, has only 660 something miles on her...today I was waiting for the lady to get out of the grocery store and I was turning through the parking lot and I didn't judge the sidewalk next to me and BAM! Right through the chromed TRD rim...
Now, looking at it, I only seemed to scratch the OUTER LIP a little bit -- just some road rash of sorts, with not lots of chrome missing...
My question is this: please someone tell me that I can bring the vehicle back to my dealer, who had these rims shipped to California I believe to be chrome dipped, to have this fixed somehow? Can they polish or buff the area and apply some more chrome or something? It's just the lip, as I said, but it's breaking my heart as I'm trying to keep her as new as possible...

Is this above statement supposed to be as a jab because I haven't supplied a picture of the ride yet? That's how I took it; if so, I am so sorry for this -- I actually have no experience uploading pics to a website...it would be my first time...how can I go about doing this without a scanner and with just a camera phone?

Really? If so, this would be relieving; I can go into any wheel shop and they can fix the rubbed off piece of the outer rim of my chrome wheel?

any wheel shop should be able to fix it right up for a reasonable cost

Is it as easy as going into a shop and they fix the scratched chrome? How is it done, do you know by any chance? Do they buff the damage and then "fill in" the missing chrome area?
Don't worry about it. There should be a number of rim shops that can repolish/fix the rim for you. Most of these shops can also fix bends.
Most shops in my area charge between 50-150 dollars per rim repair depending on the extent of damage.

I have a special wheel and tire coverage warranty I took through my Toyota dealer where I purchased the vehicle, and they said something about them covering damages like this but I would need to tell them that "something hit the rim" and not that I did it; so, I may be able to go that way...but 150 bucks is reasonable.

yeah, njerald pretty much got it right. last month, i helped a friend drop off a bent/scratched rim to a shop that specializes in repairs and he had to get it completely repolished to repair all the scratches.
you might be charged a bit more because you are working with a dealer, who most likely contracts with an outside shop for rim repair.
Oh boy....okay...while I thank you for the link, this is not good news...I really didn't want to have to send this rim out to be rechromed completely; I mean, after all, we're talking about an 18 inch wheel here -- not those 20"+ custom dubs that are on the Camrys in that Indonesia thread...is it really worth all that time and money to have these completely rechromed from scratch?

if you have polish lip then it will be possible to fix it quickly and at a reasonable cost, but as far as i know, for chrome wheels you have to fill up the chipped area (if any), smooth it out and have it professionally re-chromed. but i suggest you to just pick up the phone and call a few wheel shops and ask what'd be the best way to fix it
