DIY Door panel removal - Gen 6

First you need to remove these three items. On the left, use a screwdriver or something to poke the center of the clip. After that you can pull the clip out. In the middle, you need to remove the black plastic cover behind the handle. On the right you need to remove this plastic on the handle. See the next photo to see how I removed the black cover. The pull handle, I stood behind the handle and used both hands to grab the forward edge of the cover with my finger tips.

Cover with some tape and pry this cover off.

Now remove the screws behind the cover and triangle piece on top. The triangle piece just pulls off.

After that, starting at the bottom corner near the light, pull on the door panel outwards to release the clips behind the panel. They are mostly on the bottom but there are some along the vertical edges.

Once the panel clips are free and just feels like it's hanging by the top edge, grab the bottom of the panel and lift or rotate CCW. The panel is hanging by some clips that hang on the top edge of the door and you are going to need to release these.

Once you get the panel off, you need to disconnect three wiring harnesses and the door lock and handle combination. The circled area on the left, there are two wiring harnesses for the power door lock and one for the windows. Just squeeze the clip and pull to release. The handle part is clipped by the top and bottom.

The light at the bottom, you can just push the light out to make it easier to disconnect. Push the light from the back side to pop the light out. Remove the light and leave it off. It's easier to reassemble later with the light left off the panel.

Door panel removed.

Nice pictorial. With the pull handle do u start at the top?......I have the master sheets from Crutchfield which is very helpful but got confused when it came to the pull handle.I'm planning on replacing the HU,front speakers & maybe adding a sub.It looks like u did some dampening around the speaker itself but the rest of the door looks untreated, how does it sound?

The pull handle you're referring to is the one you pull to close the door? That one I just grabbled the middle of the front edge with my finger tips and pulled.

The speaker there is not stock as you can see and it's mounted to a piece of wood that doesn't sit flush with the plastic that was the stock speaker. The sound dampening is to seal the gaps there. I want to at least seal the rest of the holes in the door but I'm not sure how to do it yet since those openings are so big. You generally want to separate the front and back of the speakers otherwise I think the pressures cancel each other (I think) that's why speakers (including subs) are put in boxes. So I want to seat the door to better separate the front and back.

The speakers I used are awesome compared to the stock ones. I am using that tweeter in the door only. The stock tweeter in the dash is still there but it's disconnected.
