5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well, I thought this has been discussed well enough before, but I sure couldn't fish out what I was looking for with the search button. So, let me toss out a question to you:
So, what does it take to get to the fog light bulbs in order to replace them? I presume you have to take off that big shield off of the area underneath them, but that begs the question:
1. Do you HAVE to take off that shield? I'm talking about the thing that goes from side to side across the whole front of the car, in front of the front wheels. Or, can you just reach your arm inside it far enough to do the job without taking it off?
2. If you do have to take it off, can you walk me through the job? Is it just a few pop-out connectors, or is it more difficult than that?
3. Is there more to it than that? Are there some "inner covers" behind the bulbs to fight through?
Thanks in advance for any info you could toss my way! I decided to go MTEC 4350K all around -- they should be here in a couple of days!
I am thinking to replace the fog light on SE. Most of the DIY on fog light are adding fog light on LE, CE, which involve too many steps. I heard about loosing just one screw to get the job done. Where are the steps by steps pic?
To those TN members who have Nokya yellow fog, did any of you get pull over by cops?

The engine undershield is in 2 pieces and only takes about 5 minutes to drop both pieces. Takes longer to raise the car up in front.
Then just rotate the bulb holder, pull it out, pop the bulb out and a new one in w/o touching the bulb glass. The same drill as with the high and low beams.
I remember reading that someone changed theirs through the fender well liner area which would be better because the car would not have to be raised.
My MTEC's are still going in all 6 places after about 18-19 months.....
on my gen 5.5, i just release 1 bolt from the shield and then pull it down so i can slip my hand in. if you want a little more room, u can undo 2 bolts..(the 2 closest to the wheel)

Absolutely, that's part of why I chose them!
I sure like the "Gen 5.5" idea of just undoing a couple of connectors, and getting in there without too much hassle. "Going through the wheel wells" brings back horror memories of the previous-generation Honda Accord, where you had to do that to change the HEADLIGHT bulbs -- what ATROCIOUS "engineering."
You guys are totally making it out to be more than it is. Just look under the front of the car. Remove some of the bolts for the splash-guard (the shield you are referring to), and just reach in and change the bulb as usual. You don't even need to raise the car. I don't even know why that was mentioned. Its quite simple.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
