Need some info on selling a 2007 Camry

Hi guys,

There is a chance I may relocate overseas and I have a camry LE that I financed in December 2006.

I was wondering what would be the best way to go about selling it for maximum price, and what the procedure for selling a financed car might be...

Any ideas how much I would lose?!

Also I have a couple small scratches on the front hood, and on on of the doors there is a minute dent from a shopping card that came rolling down the street into my car.... Should I be fixing these prior to selling and if so any recommendations whether to go to Toyota dealership or not?

Thanks in advance. Dan

That is tough to say, but you need to see what other cars a SELLING for not listing. Also if you bought brand new big chance you will lose pretty big. Sorry to bear the bad news.

I would post on craigslist and autotrader. Fleabay will bring lowballers, as will craigslist, but you get locals on craigslist.

Round up your best offers and see what you can come up with.

HOpe you get out without losing too much . .

First you have to find out what your car is worth ( the condition it's in, the mileage etc. ) here's kelley blue book to see the general value of your car http://www.kbb.com/kbb/Default.aspx

edmunds.com way more accurate for real world pricing. KBB way off most of the time.

Not sure about California, but in Georgia the lien holder (The company that financed your car) has the title document.

Call this company and ask for the procedures to sell the car.

Forgot to say that having the dings repaired would likely cost far more than any hit you take from selling as is.

I usually sell my old cars myself rather than trade and, as a previous poster said, Edmunds has been more accurate.

I have had great luck with AutoTrader. Go for the ad with multiple photos.

I recently sold an older car, I have some webspace so I put a link from craigslist to the 45 or so pictures that I took of the car. The buyer told me the pictures sold her before she showed up. Buyers like to see lots of pics.

YOu can use photobucket so something like that.

The dealer will not give you pooo for the car . . . agree, you won't get your money back on fixing the small dings. If not bad most folks wont care on a used ride.

How much you lose depends on how much you put down, the length of your loan and what you paid for the car (financed cost).

You may or may not be upside down on it and scratches and dents don't help the resale cost.
