5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I recently just bought a whole speaker system which is super LOUD. speakers and an amp controlling both of them. i thought that installing an amp to them i could feel some bass but i only get loudness out of em. and i asked them why and they said people only install amps to cars with subs and my problem is that i dont want subs in my car. and so i wanted to switch back to my stock but they threw them away.
so for people who have subs with their stock speakers, i'm willing to trade my polk (front 6x9) and infinity kappa's (back 6x9). reason i got different ones were because kappas don't fit in the front. and my amp (performance technique brand new 4 channel) for stock ones! im basically losing 300 dollars in this trade. heres the catch, you pay for uninstall and install of mine and your car which is probably around 150.
i prefer someone in the OC so we can meet up.
i'm not trying to scam you in anyway.
you can ask lammydi. i've made a trade with him before.
i just want my stocks back .
again, these are SUPER loud that goes with subwoofers that are super loud too

If you just want stock back. Why don't you just remove the amp and let the stock unit play on your aftermarket speakers. I'm telling you....anything is better than stock speakers.

This might sound silly, did you think about replacing the front with two 6 1/2 inch shallow mount component subs (kicker compVT) and add tweeters separately to the upper door panel?

will the 6 1/2 kicker compvt depth fit the doors though?
Warning: That is me just thinking loud and I am not a real audio expert.
From looking at other TN'ers installation who used speakers like the Polk Momo, which are deeper, it should fit. You need to get an adapter plate (Crutchfield.com), which also brings the speaker a tad more out, which helps. The Kicker is 2 13/16 deep and should therefore fit. Also, they come in 2Ohm and 4Ohm ...you can pick what best matches your amp. These component subs are made for this kind of installations in smaller spaces. But, I have no idea if the sound will be good enough for you. Their reviews is pretty good and if the amp can drive them properly it should certainly sound better than what you got. Just a thought!
PS: I have not done it, thinking about it - but I have the JBL system, which is already setup to have 6x9 woofers in the door driven by the JBL amp (2Ohm). Also try to keep my trunk space as usable as possible.

Polk MomoMMC690 are 3 way speakers rated 33Hz to 25kHz, Kicker CompVT 08CVT654 are single mount subwoofers rated 25Hz to 350Hz. With the right amp, the kicker should give you a better bass performance, I would think.
what is the maximum depth for the fronts for 6th gens?
I don't know exactly - some other members here might. But from what I see and read it should be <=3" max. One member here used the POLK Momo, which are 3 7/16" deep and he had to move them out about 1/2" to make them fit (limit is the window when rolled down). Best is you unscrew your door panel and measure it to be sure.
