5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
About a month ago, I took off my front bumper to put on my SE headlights and noticed wires and plugs behind both ends of the bumper right behind where the fog lights would be....unfortunately I didnt take pics, but does anyone know if Toyota would just leave those back there even if the car doesn have fog lights? I dont even have a fog light switch, and my bumper fog light covers are molded in so they would have to be cut out.....any info would help
I think they put the wiring in place for all cars but not the actual lights. It may be easier to wire up all cars during that step of production rather than build all models differently. Also it would make it easier to add them later on if desired by the customer.
well mine doesnt have removable covers for sure....sorry if this is a stupid question, but how can I tell if it is japan built? by VIN? I have a gen 5.5, I dont know of too many gen5.5 bumpers that have removable covers....
well i added fogs to mine :P but i wired it in seperately not using the stock because you hasve to buy the new switch which was more then what i had to do myself so...

if thats the case that I do have the ability for plug and play, I wouldnt mind looking into getting the oem fog light arm switch ( sorry, I dont know the term for it)
i wouldent doubt if it was prewired....it makes production easier that way
and im sure you can find an oem stalk with the foglight switch on ebay....its easy to install too

yep, thats what I did... installed the oem stalk with the fog light switch. and it was definitely easy to install. though, be aware that you may need to buy the relay or the fuse also... the relay was missing from my fusebox. the relays are not easy to get to, they are on the back of the fusebox next to the steering wheel. if you're skinny and flexible enough, you can probably get to it without taking the dash apart.

The Gen 6 is the same, when I installed fog lights I noticed the OEM wiring behind the bumper, unfortunately it doesn't work as there are still missing components, such as the switch and I believe some fuses/relays.
^^^^yes that is similar....so I should only worry about the relay and stalk then right? im looking into taking it to a body shop and having them cut out the covers and mount the fog lights, sounds easy enough....thanks!
