Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've heard, more like searched, around for the "big 3" for grounding.
I didn't find too much for that. But I did do my own grounding today. I had a question.
Since i'm on the 1mz-fe, I was wondering where is the grounding point from the alternator on the 1mz to the battery? I was also wondering would that point on the alternator be a good place to ground the alternator to the chassis. we found the power for the alternator today, but couldn't find a valid grounding point for the alternator to the chassis or the battery.
if anyone has any pictures that would be great. I know some of you guys have done groundings on your cars...
Thanks ahead of time. I'll have pics of my unfinished grounding -- so far I have 2.
There's a cable going from the chassis to the left side of the upper intake.
Another cable is from the negative battery to the front of the engine.
I have 1-2 more places. 1 from alternator to the battery and 1 from the alternator to the chassis. (just need to know where I can find the grounding point on the alternator.)

if you poke around your engine bay, you will see random thin little wires attached to all parts of the chassis frame etc... look for it, and you should e able to see it... you can just replace the originial wire if you want...

You are going to add ground wires to your car that don't do anything, for experience?

I still don't get it...
It's more like learning what they can do before I completely install. I've put them on and taken them off and took readings. yeah there's a little change with electrical measurement tools, but I know it's not making a difference. But I am understanding the way it works more and more.

For an audio system, the big 3 works well. Other than that I see no difference. I've heard cleaner stronger sound from my system after doing this to my 2az. Although i couldn't get the ground wire from alternator...
ditto I just checked out my stereo this morning and it's sounding a lot crisper.. but no point at the alternator to check yet -- i'm asking around with some toyota techs to see from a friend.

The alternator is grounded, to the engine block, by bolts...
Well i know that....had i found it, I would have replaced it for better a wire. But unfortunately I'm to lazy to see where the factory had routed it, so plans of replacing that is out the door...especially now a days when I really don't do much with my car.
