A simple mod to hide cassette adapter and mp3 wires?

Has anyone found a simple way to hide all the external wiring involved in using a cassette adapter-to-MP3 player hookup? I hate seeing the mess of wires. I have an 05 Camry XLE. I don't want to remove my dash, solder anything, or spend alot of money on anything else. I have had no real luck with those FM transmitters, likely because all the FM channel selections that they offer are in use in my area. I wish there were a way to keep the mp3 player in my glove compartment and better hide all the wires involved. I don't suppose there are sufficient ducts to thread wires through my vents or the cassette area? Any ideas?

I do agree the FM transmitters provide terrible ipod connectivity. I used to have one, then did a little research, as you are doing, in an attempt to keep things hidden. I used a peripheral brand ipod2car adapter and plugged it into the rear of the head unit where a cd changer goes and threaded the wire through the cigarette lighter.
So in answer to your question, I do not think there is an easy way to hide the wires. The unit is placed at the center of the dash and without going behind the head unit with an ipod2car adapter or similar, there is no easy way to hide the wires that I am aware of. I do wish you the best of luck though.

Given the lack of mod ideas. Are there any inexpensive gadgets that you all would recommend? Have FM transmitters gotten any better in recent? BTW, I have a plain MP3 player, not an ipod, so my jack on the player is a universal one.

I do not know if the transmitters have gotten any better than the time I used one. I do remember that any personal transmitter (whether it be for an ipod or other non-communicative device) is limited to a max range of something like a 6 ft. radius per FAA regulations (or some such gov't body). I have a friend that has a transmitter that extends a bit beyond that range. His is actually older, before they perfected the designs limiting capabilities, and is out of production. Hopefully someone else has come up with a solution, so any other ideas from anyone?
