5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My parents just purchased a 2008 Camry CE I4 Automatic. I would like to add keyless entry for them. I've searched through the forum but did not see anything specific to the 2008 regarding the Corolla/Camry Keyless Entry Kit (00016-32901). I would like to try to use a Toyota part first, if not then we will go aftermarket. I know there have been multiple topics previously regarding adding keyless but nothing specific to this part or actual success stories on a 2008.
I was wondering if anyone has tried to use this kit on a 2008. This part states it is for a 2007.
The 2008 CE does come with power locks, just not a keyfob where you can unlock the doors. I'll have to look at the instructions and compare it to what I see on the car itself.
Is there any concern about aftermarket alarm installs voiding your warranty if anything electrical at all goes wrong in your car? Even if you use a reputable shop, things can happen. Are the chances virtually nil? Are people taking much of a chance? Just curious.
The only difference between CE and LE is keyless entry and power driver seat and option packages. Everything else is the same.
You can have the dealer add keyless but I almost guarantee you it won't be a Toyota brand item and you won't get the Toyota keys with built in remotes. They're just going to outsource it to some local shop.

Really? I've never seen a dealer outsource a Toyota keyless entry system to another shop. No, you won't get Toyota keys with the remote on the key, but you will get the key fobs.
If you are savvy with electronics, you can install an alarm system yourself and save. I installed a prestige alarm for $80 from ebay. I did not want to pay $2000 more for keyless entry and power seats for an LE, so I went with the CE. Or you can do what the other guys said, have it installed at a reputable alarm place for $100. It wont void your warranty unless the alarm caused something to go wrong. Say, your starter is messed up, then the dealer can say its because of the alarm, but they will have to prove it. LE is no different than an CE but for the keyless entry/trunk solenoid and power seats. So dont feel bad for getting it. If it did not have power windows or power locks, then I can see getting an LE. Good luck.

The OP asked about a Toyota keyless entry system.
Very true we do all the work in house and install a after market keyless system.
