5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
As you may know, I had the worst rattles in my dash and it drove me insane, to the point that conversations were interrupted...I took the car in a few months ago and quoted the TSB numbers found on this forum, to which the mechanic behind the toyota counter replies: We don't have TSB's in canada, it's an american thing! to which I replied: BUT It's made in america....
and he looked at me like I was insane.
Took her in last week, they went for a ride with me and verified that it was one of the worst cases of rattles they had ever heard. They took it over night and I just picked it up. The same guy was behind the counter and when I asked him exactly what they had done, he said: everything the TSB suggested......
hahahaahahah, I AM NOT CRAZY...there was a TSB and they knew about it, my question is why would they make it seem like they are not aware of the problem! Does Toyota pay them less hourly when the car is still under warranty??? if so...shame on them!
Who cares now, the car is super quiet now and I can enjoy the music once again. The only thing, there is a little more bass in the car now, maybe the extra padding under the dash has something to do with it? I have no idea....why ask why? I can just reduce the bass on the stereo a bit.
I am happy as a freaking clown. Just wanted to share the good news. If anyone needs numbers off my receipt, let me know.
They don't get paid at all for warranty services...
No! The service guy is just too lazy to deal with rattles, I had that same situation with one of those guys. Next time you see him, just slap 'em in the face.
trdcamry, I just went through this with another Toyota, actually they do get paid, but it is at a lower rate. I have a good relationship with my "Team manager" and she told me this...which would lead one to wonder, if they pay at a lower rate to their employees, where's that "book" that says they have to charge X because the book says so?" just my 2 cents...CSM-H

the technicians also do get paid less for doing warranty repairs. The "book" does not apply for warranty work toyota has a diffrent book for warranty repair times. and all times are less than the customer would pay.
