Gen6 Generation 6 evaluation

It's been two years this month that the Gen 6 went on sale. I got mine a month later in April '06. I would like to hear comments from people who purchased their cars back then. After all these months I still love my Camry even after two trans.(they finally got it right) replacements.

23 months with no problems, hestitation, squeaks, rattles, noises, or misfit panels.

27.1+ mpg average for the 23 months.

1 trip to the dealer for a rear bumper cover replacement after getting rear ended. Never expect to return.

Does what its supposed to.................

I had the car for 5 months now. Its up to 2,200 or so miles. The gas mileage isnt great averaging 23 per mile. Buts its cold so I let the car warm up everymorning and afternoon for awhile.
Its been to the dealer 7 times for numerous problems. Replaced radio after a month since it ate my cd's, tailikight had the be fixed due to condensation. Window molding was replaced due to it being damaged. Car has failed to start on 3 occasions, Toyota has checked this 2 times and hasnt found a fix. The car shakes alot when the defroster is on.

Other than that I love the car but its a little anoying at times to have this many problems with a brand new car.

I have no idea what kind of mileage I'm getting.

I've had my car for 13 months now. I have 33000km on the odo (20600 miles).

I'm still very pleased, and quite in love with my Camry. Can't wait for spring to roll around so I can ditch these noisy winter tires.

I perform all sorts of "service" with my mechanic simply because the dealers in my area are plain awful to deal with.

I've gone in for dash rattle service in the past which was largely solved. My car has a new roof, hood and sunroof rails which were replaced one month after I bought the car due to a natural disaster.

I still get no problems at all with the new roof. (knock on wood)

What can I say? I'm enjoying what I have!

My Dads SE. Figured I'd post even though its not my personal vehicle:

Problems:
Major hesitation problems - Now that its reflashed it feels more like a 9thgen Corolla S.
Area where the dash meats head unit has terrible fitting
A pillar on Passenger side trim peice has fallen off randomly.
Redlines far to easily

High points:
Looks incredible (white)
Handles beautifully
Comfortable
No serious problems after 26K miles and 14 months of owning it

He is still trying to justify trading it for an V6.

Got mine May 2006 and for a daily driver it does it's job so I can't complain. Gas is OK for a V6 and I still love the engine even with the sometimes finiky transmission.

All the minor issues I have with the car I'll take to the dealer along with a few TSBs 35,900 miles on my odometer. Come to think of it that's coming up pretty soon...

I've had mine almost a year, purchased May of 2007. Gas mileage during the winter hasn't been great, I've recorded every single fill up since September to now, and I averaged 22.605MPG (over the course of 15K+ miles).

I tended to get 24-26MPG however during the summer/fall.

A few trips to the dealer, the most recent is for the clunking when steering TSB, 2 trips to the dealer with no fix (last time ordered wrong part).

That's what you get when you buy an American made Toyota. You wouldn't have these quality problems if your Camry was built in Japan. I know many people who own Camrys and their cars are nothing but nightmares. Toyota quality $ucks. And the Camry is junk.

Not at all. The newbie knows what he is talking about here because this newbie used to own a Camry for over 2 years. And I can tell you that it was a piece of junk.

If you look at the Toyota Camry forums on Edmunds.com you will see that many Camry owners are having big problems with their 07 & 08 Camrys. There are a number of problems with the transmissions, hesitation problems, suspension problems, fit and finish problems, dash rattles, ect..
The Camry has a lot of quality issues. If this car were built in Japan, it would have been an excellent vehicle to own. But it's built here in the U.S. in Kentucky and/or Indiana with substandard quality.

I bought me first one, '07 CE 5spd in July of '07 and I put 12k on it before I traded it in for my current '07 LE V6. I just turned 10k on it. Overall I have been very happy with the Camry. I had a problem with the seat and hesitation in the CE. The hesitation was taken care of on the first trip to the dealer. The seat problem was me and not the car. That was the reason for trading it in for the LE. I have a squeak in the rear suspension on the LE. A little looking on the forums shows this can be resolved by lubing the bushings. I don't have any problems with fit and finish on either car. I think some people forget that this was a brand new model for '07. There are going to be some issues in the beginning. It happens anytime a new model is introduced. I think some people have very serious problems with their cars but overall they seem to be solid, well built cars. I hope I can get close to the 239k that my '89 Camry gave me.

Only thing I regret about this Camry is not getting the v6
No worries though, next car will be a Lexus GS or Gen 7 Camry.

Purchased in late Dec 06. About 10,100 miles.
