That's a rear bushing. I had this problem in February. I asked my mechanic to fix it (which he did by lubricating something back there). It never came back again.

hmm, thanks i'll have mines check it out. i also have a creaking sound when going over bumps although I have an LE with TRD springs.

It's not the springs that are making the noise. It's rear bushings.
When mine creaked, it also did it exactly when going over speed bumps. Basically, anything that made the car's rear "rebound" caused the creaking.
Don't bother going to the stealership - they'll want you to reproduce the sound to their satisfaction. And then they'll tell you it's within "specification". And then you'll have to do war with the manager over there. I just stopped using the stealerships in my area altogether and have never been served better than my mechanic does.

It's too bad that the Camry is not built in Japan anymore. American built Camrys all have quality problems with fit, finish, transmissions and with creaks and rattles. Toyota build quality is slipping.
If you live in a wet area, the bushing wash out all the lubricate. I had this happen on may cars, but the toyota are the worst for this. Just have them lubed
Ah makes sense this frikkin winter shit prolly de-lubricated the bushings lol, will check out the repair manual to see if i can locate them possibly oil them up myself.
gotta wait for better weather tho :|

+1 about the stealership. you were dead on with that since i complained about this issue a few months ago with the local dealer as they could not "reproduce the sound" i was complaining about.

sound slike rear sway bar bushings to me...they will make a creaking noise whenever the rear of the car bounces over bumps and the like...they most likely need replacing or lubrication...theyre inexpensive and easy to install if it needs new ones, but i suspect they just need some sort of lubrication.
