Gen 6 XLE V6 Vs. ES350

For thoes who have ridden or drove both what are the most obvious difference in terms of driving experience. I know this is like comparing Apples to orange. But these two are built on the same platform and share many parts. Is the line really blured between these two?

In my personal experience, The difference is night and day. My 02 ES300 is 10x quieter, runs smoother, rides better, overall build quality is better than my 07 SE V6 was.....

Theres a reason why a toyota is a toyota and a lexus is a lexus.

Theres also a reason why lexus is priced higher than toyotas.

As the moderator stated above, i've ridden in both the 07 camry and the ES350, and the ES350 is just a whole other world in terms of comfort and class.

Lexus > toyota. And even Toyota would agree with this, because Lexus is its luxury branchoff.

I agree with the two post above. I have been in both and drove a GS not and ES.

Lexus definitely has a better ride, comfort, and quieter ride. Lexus has come a long way since its debut back in 1989 in the US and its vehicles under the Toyota name in Japan.

The Camry is a great car for the value...Lexus is better as it should be. I will get a Lexus LS or something like it when I am older, make more money, and have (own) more important things like a house. Until then, I am happy with the Camry.

Yes, it's really bad, like 0.1" less in a moonroof ES350 vs a moonroof Camry.

I asked this question because I read an on-line review of the new Camry XLE. The author stated it was as quiet and smooth as a Lexus ES series.

Here is the article, scroll down and read next to the interior pic of the Camry.

Talking out of arse without actually knowing the facts, I would assume that even thought the two cars share the same platform, the Lexus has much more sound dampening material in all the panels, has a much softer suspension, has better quality materials in the seat (the fabric/leather, the cushioning, and even the seat frame) for better comfort, has a softer feel in the power steering (this one is hard to describe, but my Cadillac steering felt ultra-smooth compared to my Camry).

Plus all the obvious stuff in general (wood trim instead of plastic, HID headlights instead of halogen, etc) although those don't necessarily change the ride characteristics.

I drove a Camry XLE, an Acura TL, and then drove a ES350 and fell in love with the ES. But I went back an drove a Camry XLE again. I bought the XLE because I couldn't justify the $8-9K difference. I have been happy with the XLE but keep looking at the ES and remembering all the neat bells and whistles and soft leather. The ES was noticeably quieter and I really liked the Ruby Red and dark wood. I was happy that the 08 XLE with gray leather came with the dark wood. Still like the Camry after 7 months and really like the lower payments, plus its just a car (at least that's what I keep telling myself).

Completely agree with you, the toys are always nice to have since I've always liked toys. I still sometimes think of the ES350 but its all money anyways.

i had a 97 es300 before i bought the se, but te es's ride was smooth, handled great, soft steering, had plenty of power. the big differnece was the leather, lexus is softer and had no rip, creases or tears after 10 years, lets hop me camry leather will do the same. overall they are differnt creatures. not like ford.
