Thule Roof Racks on 07 Camry SE

Has anyone installed Thule Roof racks on a 07 or 08 Camry? How did it go? Any problems?

I figured that the fit kits would be different for the pre-2007 Camry. If you get a new fit kit for the 2007, I would be interested in hearing how that goes.

I've had a Yakima roof rack on my 07 Camry SE the whole winter. no problems here =)

I can even tilt my moonroof without clearance issue, but have to deal with the whistling/wind noise

Here are the parts the the Thule website says are needed for the 2007 Camry roof rack system:
400XT Aero Foot
LB50 Load Bars
2179 Fit Kit
Is that what you have on order?

I just have the 2179 Fit Kit on order as I have everything else... but if you were to buy a whole rack yes that’s what I have. The option 2 however might be nice just because it’s sleeker to the eye and better arrow dynamics would defiantly help out for wind noise. If I was to do it over again I might, MIGHT go with option 2. But this one works for what I need it for and as long as I tie things down a certain way and have the wind deflector on it doesn't make much noise at all.

I have had this rack on the 03 Camry SE and a 1995 Cadillac Deville. Had to have different fit kits for all different cars but it works amazingly and I would recommend THULE products to anyone. The fit kits just have different rubber pads and arms that clamp down on the roof... That’s it... And to just change those out and it can fit on another car in about 10 minutes is nice

rack

i have the thule rack on my 07 se and it fits just fine. i would recommend the fairing to cut down on wind noise, however.

the only issue i had installing it was trying to clamp the load bar to the aero foot. you need to squeeze the tensioning cam to lock it in place. there are two grooves on the cam you are squeezing and i about killed myself trying to get the first one closed. i realized after forcing it into place that you only need to sqeeze it to the first groove and not so that it is flush.

not that it was complicated to install the rack, but the instructions for each part of the install were pretty sketchy. i would have expected better diagrams and more detailed instructions given the cost of the rack.

I had the exact same problems but eventually worked through it as you did (after a couple of calls to Rack Attack). Regarding attaching the load bars to the aero foot, they suggested doing a temporary install of the bracket in order to use that as a lever to pull the cam into place (yes - first groove only - no way was it going to groove 2). Then you have to remove the bracket, position the load bars on the roof and reinstall the brackets under the sills on the 4 windows). If Thule would have spent another 20 minutes clarifying their directions before printing them they could have saved 9000 phone calls to their 1-800 customer help line.

it took me forever to take a picture of the car with the rack on it. I still need to add the fairing. I didn't order it originally but after listening it whistle as i
go down the road I decided to get it. I'll post another photo soon with the fairing.
