Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Was wondering if anyone could help me out... I had to get two new airbag sensors from Toyota (currently finishing up a wrecked camry rebuild) and was wondering how the heck I get the plug into the module? It's like a retractable plug that is supposed to plug into the unit, but no matter how hard I push it doesn't want to snap in. Is there a hint to this or a special tool I need or something? I'm referring to the actual airbag sensor modules, one on each frame rail of the car behind each front fender.

Well, I tried it today at the shop with no luck... It doesn't just press on and click like everything else. You have the correct diagram, but it is a special kind of connector that retracts and compresses. I tried using a screwdriver to slide on, as shown - no luck. What gives???

Yes, there appears to be an orange rubber or silicone insert down inside of the connector wrapped around the center peice. I assume this needs to come out?
No, I was referring to a plastic pin that is used to lock the connector. Can you take a good pic of the connector?

Heh, well either way you pointed me in the right direction... I took a small box cutter knife and wedged it down in there and took the insert out... What do you know, the connector snapped right on!!!
Now I have another delimma, when the car was in the collision, the driver's seatbelt was locked (I guess to prove that he/she was wearing his seatbelt?), and it will not retract. I've removed the molding that goes around the seat belt and exposed the tensioner, or retracter unit, or whatever it is. There is some wiring in there as well. Does this unit have to be replaced? Or is tehre a way to reset it?
Thanks for your help so far, both airbag sensors are now connected and bolted in.
I sent you a PM message. Thanks so much for your help thus far man. I'd still be scratching my head....... I knew I had the correct part because all of the little channels matched up perfectly but for the life of me could not figure that out!
